AP discount codes and best rate program confusion

Hi all,

I'm a little confused about AP discount codes and the new AP best rate program. I see on the wdwinfo.c_om that discount codes are now available from 8/27 through 10/4. Mousesavers.c_om says some AP discounts are bookable through 12/19. I guess the discounts mousesavers is talking about are not discount codes? Are the discount codes on top of discounts that AP holders are already receiving? I'm staying from 12/3 - 12/11. If I get an AP (trying to figure out if it's worth it for me to get one) and make a reservation and then discount codes come out for my stay can I apply the discount codes to that existing reservation? Actually, I thought I read that discounts like that would be applied automatically with the new best rate program... is that correct?

I'm going the same time as you and have booked through best rate plan. The way I understand it is, best rate you book throught passholder site will be the lowest that will come out. Those rates are out through Dec. 19 now, you have the no refund deposit with booking that way. AP rates will be released the usual way and you can book on the phone the same as before. But those rates will not be lower than the best rate. I've read some feel if the AP rates released the old way are lower your best rate will drop. I know Disney only discounts so many rooms per resort who knows how many will be left when AP rates are available to book the old way. Again this is my understanding I could be wrong! Since this program is so new I'm not sure until the AP rates are available to book the old way anyone knows how it will work for sure.
