i just bought my first Annual Pass and am trying to figure out all of the benefits. I know that through 9/30/17, there are some great dining discounts as part of the 45th anniversary special promotions. Just wondering what AP dining discounts are likely to be like after 9/30/17? What were they like before the 45th anniversary promotion? Any chance there is an old list of participating restaurants and applicable discounts floating around from that time period? Thanks!

We are all wondering about the future of AP dining discounts. Not sure that the pre-45th Anniversary promotion discounts would be reflective of what Disney has in mind (if they have any at all) for the post-anniversary period. Several things could happen.
  • No change from current discounts
  • Revert to pre-anniversary discounts
  • Eliminate all AP discounts
  • Offer some AP discounts but lower the % or restrict as to time/location.
Only time will tell

If dining discounts are important to you, have you considered doing Tables in Wonderland? I'm an AP holder and have had TIW for several years.

We likely won't spend enough on dining to make TIW worth it - that's why the current AP discounts were so appealing - similar to TIW but at no extra cost. thanks for the suggestion though!

To answer your question OP, the pre anniversary special discounts were generally 10% and had other restrictions as well. Many places were M - F Lunch
as @OKW Lover stated, no one knows what Disney has in mind for the future.

Were counter service restaurants included, or only table service?

I find it interesting how different the AP discounts are between WDW and DLR. As a DLR AP holder we pretty much get discounts at all stationary food places (QS, TS, even ice cream parlors). The actual discount varies depending on the pass, with lower ones 10% across the board, and Signature 15% everywhere. Even at Food and Wine, the booths give discounts. Only place that doesn't have them are things on wheels-like churro/ice cream carts. There is also a merchandise discount everywhere (except for wheeled booths), with 10% for low passes and 20% Signature.

When I was doing my calculations to determine if a Premier AP was worth it I was very surprised to see the limitations on the actual AP discounts! At least we will be going in September so will take advantage of the higher "birthday" discounts. (Also, in case you were curious, the Premier did end up coming out better once I considered ticket costs, memory maker, and dining/merch discounts.)
