I have been looking through past posts about these subjects and have learned a lot, but I still have a few questions. I have been going to Disneyland for over 20 years and have never gotten an AP, so I figure it's time to do so. I don't know a whole lot about the Disney Club either, so most of questions will be about it, since the website was pretty lame.

1. Is it worth it to get a DC membership and an AP? What are the difference in the discounts? I know you get $10 off your AP with a DC membership (or it used to be that way, they have raised the price of the AP, so I'm not sure if the discount is still the same), but is it still worth it? Also, with one membership can you get the discount for 2 AP's?

2. From what I have read, most of the discounts are similar to what you get with an AP. The DC website kind of stinks, and only gave a few hints as to what you receive. Can someone tell me in greater detail what all comes with a DC membership?

3. I know this is a bit off subject, but someone once told me that you can get a complimentary ticket to Club 33 if you get an AP. Somehow I think that's false, but does anyone know how to get in? I just want to go once before I die ;)

Many thanks in advance for answering these questions!

I don't know alot about this, but I'll share what I do know. With the DC discount you can get $20 off a deluxe AP (reg. $219). This one gets you a 15% discount at a number of restaurants including Blue Bayou and I believe it includes parking. There is no DC discount on a premium AP ($159 w/o parking, $30 or so more w/parking). Both types of AP get you the good hotel discounts that the DLR offers such as the recent Super Sunday rate of $99/night at the DLH. The deluxe does not have blackout dates whereas the premium has 45. There is a calendar at disneyland.com that lists the blackout dates.

Since you need two AP's, I would check the calendar of blackout dates and see if the premium will work for you. If it does you could consider getting that one, or one deluxe (for the extra discounts) and one premium. IMO the AP is great for the hotel discounts alone.

I forgot to add, you do not get any kind of admission to Club 33 with an AP. These are totally separate. You can only get into Club 33 if you are a member or if you go with a member. I believe the meal price at Club 33 includes your park admission.

The DC and AP benefits are quite similar. If you're considering buying the deluxe AP, the DC could be worth the investment. If you're going with the premium, don't buy the DC for an AP discount alone as there is none.

I would buy your AP with an American Express card - at least I think they were offering discounts on the Premium AP's when you purchased it with Amex. Also, if you have any seniors in your party intending to buy annual passes, you might want to have them buy the passes because I think they do get a discount on the AP's - perhaps a better discount than any other option.

As far as having both the AP and DC, I recommend both because sometimes the AP discounted rooms are taken up at the Disney hotels - and then you'd want to be able to see if they have any DC discounts available. It has happened to me that they've run out of one or the other. Don't forget, too, that AMEX and AAA have their own discounts - it's just that AP and DC have the best discounts. Tell the cast member what you have (in terms of discount cards) and see which deal is the best.

By the by... the Premium AP is a better deal, IMHO, because you get discounts on food and souveniers with the premium that you don't get with the others. As well, it's nice to know you can visit DL any day at all.
