I just got of the phone to check on a discount for my upcoming May trip & they still did not have any AP or AAA discounts posted yet. (except for a partial)
The reservation person told me they won't be posted until March. I don't know why they say that, knowing full well they don't know when the rates will be posted. So I will keep checking every two weeks until I get a month away, then it is every week up until the check in date.
Once I believed what I was told & waited to check back, only to find out they released the discounts earlier & they were none left.
It sure was nice back when they used to always give you an AP rate instead of having to call back & spend 5 minutes going through the voice prompts.
This is the first year we are ap holders...usually how big of a discount have you gotten? Also, can you book now and see if they apply the discount later?
We are planning on staying in first week of June...

Can't say for sure but I think it runs similar to AAA (10-20%). Yes, once you book you can keep checking back and if the discount is available they will apply it to your ressie.

One quirk we found out for our last stay from 16 Oct to 1 Dec of 2010 was that if you have to split up a ressie say initially for 20 days and there is a AAA available for say one 3 day period and another 3 day period you will need to get four new ressies ... one for the original up to the 1st AAA discount and then another for the period between the two AAA discounts, a third for the second AAA discount and then a fourth for the remaining days. This is because they require a one day's deposit for each ressie based on the rate for that period. This last time we had like 8 ressies and had to check in each ressie time frame and got new KTTW cards for that ressie. However, if you extend any ressies or contract it there is no additional cost as long as the time frame is unbroken.
In 2008 we got a AAA discount for the entire month of Nov at one time, but not last year. As mentioned there seems to be more AAA discounts for the premium and maybe the preferred sites than the full hook up which we initially booked last year. Next time we will be going the premium route right away.
Also they only give out a certain number of sites for each discount. So keep trying, we got our discount on Friday arrived on Sunday. I figure there were cancellations.
