Aside from the obvious, can someone tell me the other benefits to having AP's. I really need to talk DH into buying these...and other than the possibility of saving on our room and having passes for everyday that we are there...what else can I tell him to convince him this is the route we need to go. We will need 3 adult and 1 child. That's alot of money all at once...but we are going 2x this year alone...and "possibly" a 3rd trip next March...if we time it right we could get 3 trips out of them. I've been working on getting him to buy into DVC...maybe if we start smaller...like w/ AP's ;) Thanks for the help!

Well, if you are definetly going twice this year, the AP is the way to go.If you were to buy a 5 day hopper for each trip, that would cost about $465.00.An AP is about $395.00.Plus if you are there more then 10 days during both trips you can still go in the parks every day.:) Plus there are room discounts and some others like tours and food.If you can get a third trip in,all the better!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Show him the expenses without an AP and with an AP. Put it side by side and show him how much you would save with an AP, especially if you're going 2 times a year.

That always works for me.

Don't forget the fringe benefits, like 10% off at World of Disney! That saves money off of what you would have spent otherwise. There are also several dining discounts.
Here is a breakdown of when you would break even at attendance in the parks. You can show how much money you will save in the long run!

Is the 10% discount at the World Of Disney a continuous thing for AP holders? Is there ever, or has there ever been a time when you do not get the discount for AP holders?

One of the nice things about APs is that when you have a fragment of a day...like on your arrival or departure day, you can still go to a park without feeling that you've wasted a whole day on a ticket.

Thank you. I didn't know about the discount at Wolrd of Disney or for EPCOT Lunches. Any place special at EPCOT....or is it everywhere? Like sit-down and counter service?

Sit-downs, I believe from last look...
AP discounts are still there, but lessening every year (much to my chagrin)
They are still worth it if you are going for a length of time, or more than once in a year for that length - Allears has the breakeven point for the various AP's on their site..... That might be very helpful to show him. It worked for me. :p

I've been looking at what extra's AP provide, one thing I found is that they can offer special treats, one i found is during the Flower Power concerts if you go to guest relations the day of the concert you can be put on a list for VIP seating.
If you are using a car, you get free parking. That alone for 7 days is savings.

I figure that I spend $392 per adult AP. Now, we are going to WDW this August for 8 days, and then again in November for 7days. We are planning on another trip in August '05, that will be for about 5 days (ending on the last day of our AP) That's a total of 20 days on one pass. Each day basically will cost $19. If I got a good room rate on top of that..terrific. And discounts on lunch/dinner are the frosting on the cake!!!

Plus, if you happen to *gasp* stay offsite, your AP gives you free theme park parking. We had APs for January '03, stayed offsite for a week with my parents in a condo ($21 in parking we did not pay). We then got a great rate on a room at PO-R for an additional 4 days. Lunch discounts at sit down restaurants, discounts on some recreation, tours.

And I totally agree with another poster--even if you just pop into a park for a fireworks show or parade, you don't feel as if you have 'wasted' a days' admission.

Then we went back this year (January 05) and got another 8 days of park admission, and a discount on a cabin at Ft Wilderness.

Plus, I squeezed in a solo trip in April.

Along the same line, we never had to feel guilty for what we didn't get done. We sometimes left after only a few hours due to grumpy kids or adults, and there was NO feeling of guilt for the awful waste of a day. We loved that!
