How does it work when you have an AP and want to add on the dinning package? Is the price the same as adding on the dinning without the AP and do you have to pay for a one day pass? Would it be worth it to skip the dinning and one of us get the TIW?
Thanks

I thought about adding the dinning plan for our June trip. We have APs and have a TIW card that we have used on previous trips this year. After spending quite a bit of time pricing meals out of pocket and comparing to the dinning plan, for us the dinning plan would cost $78 more than our other option. You can book a room and dining package for AP holder which is different from the MYW package which includes tickets. It really depends on where you want to eat, how many are in your party and if you like having meals paid for in advance. If you go to allears.net you can look at the menus for pricing to compare. We have never used the dining plan and have been fine. I just wanted to see if it would be worth doing the dining plan this time around.

An AP holder does not have to purchase a 1 day ticket anymore. Your reservation, however, is turned into a package to enable you to purchase dining. The package rules for payment apply ($200 deposit and paid in full 45 days before arrival).

The cost is the per day cost for the dining plan you chose times the number of people in your room. You have to get dining for each day of your room reservation.

We are planning to add the quick service dining to our April trip. Disney has had some funky things going on with the Codes associated with our discount, and "Harriett" has been working on applying the dining code to my AP discount room only reservation for over a week. (I've checked in a couple of times and they're working on it. Seems like it shouldn't take that long, but as long as I have my room only discount, I don't really care.)

We have a few TS ADRs, but we don't want to do TS for all nine nights of our stay and didn't choose any signatures this time. So, a QS dining plan will work well for us.

There are a couple of good threads on the DDP forum explaining how to calculate the value. Spreadsheets and everything. I found those quite helpful.

There is only my husband and myself going. Only one of us has to buy the TIW, is that right? Is the dinning plan the same price to add-on as it is for non AP holders?

You only need to buy one TIW card. I think you can apply the discount to yourself and up to five guests.

The dining plan is the same price to add on as for non AP holders. There is no discount.

We are AP holders and choose the DDP over TIW. Our reasons: Both of our kids are under age 9 so the basic DDP is a very good value. TIW automatically adds 18% tip, and I like the freedom to tip more or less based on service. Also, we do eat at alot of character buffets, and I typically do not tip 18% for a buffet. We stay at deluxe resorts, where AP discounts have consistently been 40-45%, saving us enough money to purchase the DDP and still stay within budget. :goodvibes

Correct, only one in the party needs to buy a TiW card. However the card holder is the only one who can use it. Just wanted to mention in case there was a time where you may split up and eat at different places. Also no splitting of the restaurant bills. For example a party of four requesting two separate checks. The cardholder has to pay for all.
You can buy a second card. ($)
AP-ers can book ticketless packages.
One plus side to TiW is of course buying what you want without having to wish you had an appetizer over a dessert for instance. Plus the TiW includes a discount on adult beverages.
It's really a matter of personal preferences.

Thanks I was wondering if you could get deluxe ddp with it

While we purchased the QSDP for our April trip, the regular plan and deluxe plan were offered to us. I believe you can purchase any of the three plans.
