Okay, I have two questions for transportation dissers, lol.

First, we have added on 2 days to our BWV/SSR trip, staying at AoA - Little Mermaid those first 2 nights. I will be arriving with my DD24 on Thanksgiving day, scheduled to land at MCO at 4:35 p.m. I expect that should get us to AoA about 6 p.m. We have a dinner ressie at Yachtsman Steakhouse at 8:05 p.m. that night. Now, we will have an ECV rented from offsite. If we can check-in and leave after dropping things in our room, can we get to say DHS(walk from) or EPCOT(walk thru, have AP), to Yacht Club taking as bus? Don't know anything about the buses from AoA and if they share with any other places. Also, not sure how bus service on thanksgiving day would be at about 6:30 p.m. A cab would probably be best but with an ECV, not sure we can do that. I wouln't wanna have to disassemble the ecv to put in cab trunk, and neither does DD24. Is there any cabs that are just as easy to call for that can take an ecv without disassembling?

2nd question is for a friend going down in a couple weeks. She's got a broken foot and wondering about getting around the orlando airport and possibly using a wheel chair there, especially the long walk down to the buses area. Wasn't sure where to tell her how to get one - can you just grab one from where they keep them(?) or does she need to go somewhere special to get one? And can her family push her or does someone from the airport have to push her? I don't remember ever seeing them in a specific spot, but sort of remember seeing guests being pushed by airport personnel at my airport.

Thanks for any help! :)

You can get to the Yacht Club as you suggest - either walk/boat from DHS, or walk through/boat from Epcot. There are a (very) few taxi vans that allow you to stay in the mobility device, bu no guarantee any woukd be available at the times you need.

You friend should call the airline and let them know she'll need wheelchair assistance, and remind them again when she checks in. If she wants her party to be able to push her, she should rent or borrow a wheelchair at home. The airport chairs are for use by SkyCaps or other designated employees. Tipping is normal, standard...

Hmm, ok, would I just call Mears taxi service to ask for this type of taxi? I could call earlier to try to set up a reservation with them maybe. Buses would be fine as long as they aren't too full and far in between from holiday guests moving about.

Okay, I'll give her the heads up on that. Now if she doesn't call cause she thinks she'll be okay, and then discovers she does need a wc, is there anyway to get one then or she must have called ahead? And if she does end up using a wc, what would be an appropriate tip for them pushing her, a few dollars?

Thanks for the help, kaytieeldr! Will probably call taxi company ahead to see how they usually handle that kind of request, just to have the info. Then will decide that day. And thanks for the heads up for my friend, she's not on the dis, but I told her somebody usually has the info that's needed! :thumbsup2
