We walked back to our room and were relieved to see that the cleaner had finished in our room. We didnt get much time to rest as we had an early PS at Hollywood & Vine as part of the Fantasmic dinner package so we literally sat down for 5 minutes before showering and getting dressed. This time, we drove to the park rather than wait for the bus. On the way, we stopped at Everything Pop so Andy could look at the sunglasses. He managed to find a nice pair and we were on our way.
We arrived at MGM very quickly and managed to park quite near the front in Stage 40. We caught the tram to the entrance, our first time this trip yay! Once again, my card wouldnt let me through. I was let through and the CM asked me to visit Guest Services so they could issue a new card to me as he reckoned the magnetic strip had stopped working. As we wanted to find Hollywood & Vine for our PS, I said Id pop in there on the way back (and never did, I forgot!).
Hollywood & Vine is quite close to the entrance so we didnt have far to walk. Neither of us had eaten here before. We originally had booked the PS for weeks time but I realised that it was for the night we were due to book into the Contemporary and wed wanted to see Wishes from our balcony instead so Id moved it forward a week, at the same time changing it from Mama Melrose to Hollywood & Vine as Andy had preferred the food menu.
We checked in for our PS and were called to our table straight away. Hollywood & Vine is set out like an old diner and we loved the theming of it. Our server was Crystal and she was really lovely. We were handed our Fantasmic voucher as we were seated and we were told to head to Oscars near the entrance to gain entrance.
I have to say that we had our best Disney meal ever here at Hollywood & Vine. The food was incredible and there was so much choice. We both managed 2 platefuls. I had a bread roll with some bleu cheese and bacon butter which was incredible. I can also recommend the cucumber salad, the pan-seared smoked sausages, the green beans in garlic and tomato sauce, the rice dish and the Yukon potatoes. My favourite was the Turkey Pot Roast, mmm mmm mmm! Ive never tasted anything so delicious and the turkey was so soft, you didnt need a knife. I had pretty much the same for my 2nd plate. There was some fish dishes, salads, barbecue baked beans, pork and prime rib to name but a few. Andy had the sausage, the potatoes, roast potatoes too which he said werent nice at all, sweet potato which he loved and corn bread. When he went back a second time, he discovered these gorgeous meatballs in a barbecue sauce that were hidden in the kiddie section - they were too nice for the kids! The kids also had chicken nuggets, mac and cheese etc. The food was just incredible and we said wed definitely have to eat there again.
The desserts were just as impressive. Andy fell in love with the apple cobbler and he also had some chocolate/vanilla twist with hundreds and thousands. I sampled a bit of everything. I tried the 3 berry cobbler which was delicious, the apple dapple cake and they had some mini cakes including snickers cheesecake and carrot cake, oh and not forgetting the chocolate mousse. All the desserts were superb too. Drinks were included and our bill came to $46 which was excellent.
Feeling very full, we decided to explore the park as we had a few hours til we were due at Oscars to make our way to Fantasmic. I had a look round 2 of the pin stations and found a Chef Mickeys pin and the 2004 Friendship Day pin with Lumiere and Cogsworth from Beauty & the Beast on it, very cute. We had just missed the latest Voyage of the Little Mermaid showing and the next one was due in 25 minutes so instead of waiting, we carried on walking. It was boiling still and we were sweating. We walked around New York where they were putting up the Osbourne Lights - theres loads of them!
We saw the sign for the motor show they are working on.
We ended up at Muppet Vision 3D and were just in time for a show. The theatre was half empty and we were told to sit where we liked. I love this show and never tire of it.
After, we stopped at Pizza Planet for a drink before heading back to the front.
We saw the tiniest lizard and Andy managed to get right up close to it to take a picture. Ive never seen anything so tiny.
This was near the Star Tours ride. We managed to get some photos of the At-At as well.
Andy decided to leave his favourite Rock n Roller Coaster for another day and instead we wandered through the lovely air-conditioned shops. It was nearing 7pm so we decided to go and take our seats for Fantasmic. What a walk from Oscars! It took us a good 5 minutes to get close to the amphitheatre. We handed in our voucher and were directed to the preferred seating area.
There were CMs walking up and down the stairs with brightly coloured glow sticks and toys etc, some selling popcorn and candy floss too. Andy went and got us some drinks while we waited. The hour went quickly.
Andy had never seen this show before and I was looking forward to seeing it again as Id totally loved it last time. Its such a great show. It didnt disappoint and Andy really enjoyed himself. I got a bit emotional at the start - I blame it on being a woman!
The show passed too quickly and soon it was time to leave. Luckily we were seated quite near the top so we were out very quick. We joined the herd heading back to the entrance and were soon out of the exit.
We managed to get on a tram just before it left and were soon back at Stage 40 for our car. It took us only 5 minutes to get back to Pop Century. We parked in the same spot that wed parked in earlier and walked through the food court to grab a refill for me and some beer for Andy. Classic Concoctions was shut again so instead of sitting out by the Hippy Dippy Pool again in the heat, we came back to our room instead. Andy sat on the bed drinking his Coors Light and watching Scrubs on telly while I sat at the desk uploading todays photos and catching up on the trip report. By 10.30 I was falling asleep so I decided on an earlyish night. It didnt happen though - I soon woke up, thanks to the screaming baby in the room next door. We went back down to the food court about 11.30 for a midnight snack and more beer for hubby before heading back to the room about midnight. We were in bed by about 1am. Today was an utterly fantasmic day!
Coming up: I turn into Mrs Grumpy Guts and we get rehitched!
