Day 6 - Tuesday 27th
I woke up gone 8am. Andy had been up since 7 and wed missed early magic hour at MGM. Ah well. We showered and dressed and decided to head to Epcot instead. We waited about 15 minutes for a bus. Andy was getting impatient as the buses for the other parks and Downtown Disney arrived before ours - sods law really. Still, the bus arrived and we were on our way to Epcot. We had mad Suzy the so-called safe driver. Shed driven me back from a park during my solo trip and shed driven like an absolute loony. I recognised her straight away and warned hubby. He giggled at her mad last second braking so you all went flying and said he understood why I said she was mad. We managed to get there in one piece though and about 10 minutes later, we were getting off the bus.
I love the walk to Epcot from the bus stops as you can hear the music from the speakers in the bushes. Wonderful. There wasnt a very big queue for the gates and we were in no time, delayed slightly by my annual pass that kept coming up access denied - I was let in anyway.
There were some lovely topiaries by the entrance to celebrate the annual Food and Wine Festival:
We headed over to the Leave a Legacy tiles to find ours. We found it easily and took some photos of it.
Andy was hungry as we hadnt stopped for breakfast yet so I suggested the Electric Umbrella as I knew they did breakfast. It was very quiet. Andy went for the cheese omelette meal which came with the cheese omelette, 2 hash browns and a choice of sausage of bacon and he picked sausage. I had the breakfast bagel with sausage. Andy loved his breakfast and made me try a bit of hash brown and omelette and I have to admit, they were delicious.
Once breakfast was over, I went into Mousegear to look for pins while Andy headed over to Mission Space to ride it or get a fastpass depending on how busy it was. It wasnt at all busy so he managed to ride it. 10 minutes later, he found me as I was paying for some goodies. I bought the Official Walt Disney World album, an Epcot snow globe, some postcards and a Halloween Figment beanie. I pointed out the bride and grooms ears to hubby as he hadnt seen them properly before and we were planning on wearing them to our rehitching ceremony at the Garden Grill. We decided to get them nearer the time.
Hubby tried to persuade me to go on Test Track but as we got there, I didnt feel too great about it so we left it. I wanted to do Journey Into Your Imagination and Figment so we were going to head that way but I noticed the Universe of Energy and wed never seen it. We made our way inside and sat on the floor to watch the pre-show bit before heading for the seats. We both really enjoyed this, it was good fun. Thumbs up from us.
From here, we wandered to the Pin Station so I could look for some Passholder pins. I didnt find the one I wanted but found 2 good ones. We hadnt been in Ice Station Cool before so we went in here. And yes, I tried the Beverly! Its disgusting and reminded me of the strepsils or cough sweets u take when youve got a sore throat. The others werent particularly pleasant either, although Andy quite liked a fanta one he found. It left me with a bitter taste in my mouth and throat for ages afterwards.
Now, it was time for Figment. It was about 11am and everything was a walk on which really surprised us. Andy hadnt seen Journey to Your Imagination before. There was no one behind us on the walk through to the cars so we were able to take some photos.
Andy enjoyed this as did I. I love Figment, hes so cute. The skunk smell is a bit rank though but at least this time I was prepared!
We decided to leave Honey I Shrunk the Audience for another day and headed for The Land instead. We walked through and I showed Andy the Garden Grill where we would be having our rehitching ceremony the next day. We then headed straight for Living With the Land which I hadnt seen since the late 80s during my first visit. I remember eating a lovely carrot cake from the café/restaurants near there during my first ever trip. Anyway, the Living With the Land ride was a walk-on. I found this really interesting and enjoyed looking at all the veggies and fruit they were growing.
We didnt bother with the Circle of Life this time and Andy took some pictures.
We decided to leave the Living Seas for another day and headed to World Showcase instead. Hubby was getting hungry and Id raved about the fish and chips you get from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop in the UK that Id sampled during my solo trip. He decided that he had to try it for himself so off we went. We took a walk through Canada and noticed Off Kilter were due to perform their first set of the day at 2.30 and had intended to hang round for it. We asked at one of the booths what the time was and were told it was nearing 1pm. Neither of us could believe how quiet Epcot had been that day, it had surprised us both. World Showcase seemed pretty quiet too. We headed straight for the Yorkshire County Fish shop and ordered 2 fish and chips and a large diet coke. We grabbed some tartar sauce and ketchup from the side of the shop and headed down the path which leads to some parasol covered tables to eat. Andy loved his fish and chips. The cod is just divine and went really well with the tartar sauce.
It was getting really hot, nearing the 90s and we were both sweating like mad. We went into the UK shops once wed finished our lunch and got chatting to a nice girl called Zoe from Preston who had only arrived 11 days ago. She explained how Disney had come to her university and done a presentation and shed gone for the job at World Showcase and got it straight away. Apparently there about a thousand World Showcase workers and they are all of a similar age and live in a huge apartment complex. She seemed really happy there and we had a really nice chat with her. Andy bought a Welsh flag and we carried on walking.
By now, it was just too hot and I was starting to feel quite unwell. We had an hour until Off Kilter were due to start so we decided to head back to the hotel for a break. We were really lucky as when we approached the Pop Century bus stop, bus pulled in. Unfortunately the driver was too busy chatting to who he was training as he missed the turning for Pop Century and instead we ended up at MGM. Erm ok! Luckily were only a 5 minute ride from MGM so it wasnt too bad. Just as well there was only 5 of us on the bus then.
coming up in Part 2: Fantasmic and dinner at Hollywood & Vine!
