We will not have a car for our trip. My mom and niece are coming but going home on a Sunday and the flights are very expensive. The flights returning from Tampa airport are a lot cheaper. Is there anyway to get to that airport from POR? Any shuttles in the area? Thanks

Your options:
1) One way car rental
2) Car Service one way

Something tells me the car rental would be cheaper.

How much cheaper?

Keep in mind that, if you stay at a Disney resort, Disney's Magical Express is complimentary, the service is frequent, and it serves every Disney-owned resort at WDW. But from WDW to Tampa Airport is around 75-80 miles. That's going to cost a lot, regardless of whether it's a taxi, car service, or intercity motorcoach. It will also take much more time.

For somebody who would rent a car in either case, a case can be made that a significantly lower airfare at Tampa could justify the extra driving time and gasoline. But if it's a choice between taking free Disney transportation and paying to be transported 75-80 miles, the airfare savings at Tampa would have to be huge.

If your mom and niece are willing to do a one-way car rental, it would undoubtedly be cheaper than paying for a taxi and car service.

Much cheaper, there are 2 of them and the one way flight difference is around $150 each.

So they would be saying 300.00 total. The one towncar service I found with published rates to Tampa was 210.00 one way and then there is the tip. I figured it would be in this range since a towncar to Sanford from Disney is in the 120 range.

I didn't check a car rental.

It wouldn't be worth it for a car service. I thought maybe there was some sort of shuttle. Thanks for the information.

You should be able to get a midsize rental car somewhere on disney property and return it the next dey at the Tampa airport for something in the $60 range.
Most rental companies will pick you up at your resort and bring you to their rental location.

I've done plenty of one way rentals from MCO to Port Canaveral or back for about $30.
