Hello everyone! Let me first say, I'm so excited to have found these forums and so thankful for all the information that I've already read about.

My family and I have been visiting WDW for over 20 years now. I have went at least once a year during that time and the rest of the family usually goes more often. We are long time DVC members at Old Key West and this year's trip has been scheduled for the last week of July and 1st week of August.

This year I'd like to try some things that we may not have seen before (the illuminations cruise, carriage rides and Hayrides to watch the MK fireworks are a few things that I've just found out about this year.) If anyone has any suggestions of out-of-the-ordinary type places or any activities that don't seem to be well known, please fill me in!!! Thanks a bunch!!!

Have you tried looking for Hidden Mickey's while on your trips?

Hidden Mickeys started out as inside joke among the Imagineers. A Hidden Mickey is an image of Mickey Mouse concealed in the design of a Disney ride ,resort, etc. To begin with it took the shape of a head and ears silhouette, °o°, one large circle with two smaller circled on top in the correct place, but Hidden Mickeys can take on many forms. In designing, constructing or adding the final touches to an attraction, Imagineers try to "hide" Mickey Mouse silhouettes in plain sight! Word spread and soon Disney fanantics went searching for Hidden Mickeys in theme parks and movies.

Disney offers so many cool activities, if you're willing to fork over the bucks.

Surfing at Typhoon Lagoon
Snorkeling/Diving in the Seven Seas Lagoon
Segway tour of Epcot's World Showcase
Many backstage tours
Fishing trips
Putt-Putt - both courses are cool. One is 36 holes of Winter Summerland (Christmas theme). The other has an 18-hole Fantasia course, and an 18-hole course that looks like a miniature version of a real golf course: you lay-up, avoid traps, etc.

If you have young kids with you, and have never tried it, take advantage of Kidcot at Epcot WC.

If nothing else, take a little time to look at the details. For example, as you walk through the POTC queue you'll see two pirate skeletons playing chess. They're skeletons because the game is in a stalemate. Neither wanted to give in, I guess!

miste76 - I'm just like you. My first trip was in 1978. We go at least once a year, my 8 year old daughter will make her 12th trip in October! But we still manage to do at least a couple of things on each trip that we've never done before. Sometimes its because Disney has added something new - ride, show, hotel, etc. Sometimes its eating somewhere we've never eaten. Last trip, we did an Illuminations cruise (which I also learned about here on the DIS boards).

If you have never visited Fort Wilderness, that's a good source of activities that most folks don't know exist. Rent bikes or a canoe for a while. Walk the nature trail. See a movie at nite. Eat at the Trail's End buffet.

Backstage tours are always popular to see things you've never seen. How about the behind the scenes tour at The Land in EPCOT?

Disney has an incredible number of things available. I think there are even tours available at some of the hotels pointing out the art and architecture. Ask at the front desk at AKL or WL.

Rent a surrey at Boardwalk. Watch fireworks from the observation deck at Contemporary. The list is endless. Go and have fun and see what you can discover.

Thank you for all these wonderful ideas. The hidden mickey's is something I'd like to try... we've noticed a few in the past, but never actually hunted for them. I even heard there's a book out there that leads your family through a game... something like a scavenger hunt. After seeing the list above, I don't think I'll need the book :) I can't wait to try some of these new things out!!!
