Anything new about Southwest since 2007? That's the last time we flew them.

Hi All ~ The last time we flew Southwest was in 2007. I have a few questions.

1. Can we still check-in online 24 hours prior to the flight?

2. Is it still "festival" seating?

3. Are there movies on the plane? Either TV's behind the seats or in the aisles?

Thanks! Sandra

Hi Sandra,

The seating has changed a bit - not as crazy at the gate!
Definitely check-in online at the 24 hour mark. You are given your seating # according to first-check-in first-in-line.

You will see your boarding pass has a letter - A B or C and # 1-65.
They seat in this order:
assistance needed (ie wheelchair or special needs each with one assistant not a family of 10;) ),
A boarding passes in numerical order
Families with children under 4 (I have seen them limit to one parent per child here as well to cut down on the added grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles that try to board with them;) )
B boarding passes in numerical order
C boarding passes in numerical order.

There are signs at the gate to show you where to line up. It really does cut down on the made rush at the gate and waiting to be first in line, but you really do need to check-in at the 24 hour mark. We've gotten B boarding passes when doing it at guest services because he wouldn't do it until his watch said when 24 hours was :rolleyes1 .

Happy flying and enjoy your March break - weather is looking good!

Sorry - no movies on the plane. You may get a granola bar though!
