Anything and everything holiday ~ Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and more!

Thanks for the Halloween forum, I was playing around on it last night, it's awesome.

So, I was also looking for different decorations for the outside of the house, not that we have a lot of room left. All I can say is I have a new found appreciation for the people who go all out and put on Haunted Houses. Those props are so expensive, it's crazy. I would see neat prop stuff that I was interested and then I looked and saw that it was like $2/3000. It was insane. Oh well, one day I'll win the lottery and have an awesome Haunted House.

I'm going to start the outside of the house this weekend. So I'll take some pictures and post them for everyone.

I know, that forum is fun. Glad to know I'm not the only one obsessed with Halloween. Actually, some of those people make my obsession appear tame compared to theirs. LOL

I hear ya on the cost of decorating. There are so many neat things I'd love to buy, but there is just no way. We try to pick up a few new pieces each year, and do the best we can on a budget. Our neighborhood is kind of a stick in the mud.
People decorate, but in a very limited amount. Meaning a few pumpkins, a scarecrow and maybe a tombstone and that's it. Which makes our house look all the better in comparison. :rotfl:

We won't do our outside until Halloween weekend. I wish I could do it sooner, but I'm afraid something will get stolen and I cannot afford to lose anything. Not that we live in a bad area, it's actually very nice (Summerlin, if you know anything about Vegas), but still things happen (lots of kids and teens who might think it's funny), and I don't want to take that chance.

I'll be doing my indoor decorations tomorrow though with my kids who have the day off.

Every year I buy a few things after Halloween half price for my graveyard. It's growing and growing. I don't set it up until Halloween day because I always worry about thieves. I would love to have the money to get some high end props too !

I wait for the nice stuff too. What I meant is the cobwebs all over the front trees and bushes and the scene setter things that go on the sides of the house. I've got the blood hands and stuff on the windows too. Sorry, I should have been more clear. :goodvibes We're lucky b/c our house is at the end of a dead end street and there isn't a house across from us, so I could put the graveyard type stuff out closer too Halloween but weather wise, I always wait until that morning/weekend.

Yep, that's another reason to wait. We dont' have much rain, but we can get really windy.

Trudi, I love shopping the after Halloween sales to stock up. :thumbsup2

I love me some Halloween specials. In my arsenal of movies, I always wip out: Nighmare Before Christmas, Sleepy Hollow (the Johnny Depp and Bing Crosby versions), Beetlejuice, Lost Boys, Van Helsing, and my kids like Alvin and the Chipmunks meet Frankeinstien and Wolfman.

I just ordered Disney's Halloween Treat. For those who don't remember, back in the mid 80's when the Disney Channel was a premium channel and there was only one HBO, Showtime, and Cinimax channel, Disney put out A Disney Halloween. It was a collection of Halloween-esque clips with an apperance by the Magic Mirror. It has an opening title sequence of the Dancing Skeletons, Donlad Duck with Ajax the gorilla, Pluto's nightmare, and I think it has the ghost hunter squence with Mickey Donald and Goofy. I don't know when it will come in, it's being shipped from Hawaii.

Love the Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleepy Hollow, and Lost Boys. I also like When a Stranger Calls, Joyride, all the Scream movies, Halloween, Vacancy, Practical Magic, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Hocus Pocus and many more. I'm not even sure how many movies we have, plus we have the Netflix instant view so I have some I can watch there. popcorn::

The only thing I don't like is gory movies like Hostel and Saw. Those don't scare me, they just gross me out. :crazy2:

I haven't heard of a Disney Halloween. I'll have to check that out.

Tonight I am taking my oldest daughter and her friend to the Frightdome at Circus Circus. It should be fun! http://www.frightdome.com/

Where did you find that??? I totally remember that and every year my sister and I talk about that special and wish they would play it on the Disney Channel again. We loved that special.

I googled Disney's Halloween Treat and found it one googles sale site. I tried to do it again and couldn't find it. However, amazon had a VHS copy for almost $200.00, I got it for $12.00. You can also watch it in parts on youtube, search for Disney's Halloween Treat.

I found one on this site
cinemavenue.org
It's $9.99

I don't remember it at all but the one I remember well from Disney back then was called Mr. Boogedy. Richard Masua (spelling) starred in it and went around saying Boogedy Boogedy Boo.

Hi Beth!!

Such a fun thread!! I love all of the ideas and pictures! :goodvibes

I actually had swine flu last year the week of Halloween but I was feeling well enough to dress in my witch costume and sit in the chair and watch for trick or treaters Halloween night. It killed me to not be able to answer the door-- but didn't want to take any chances with kids. This is a horrid picture of me but I like that it shows my white pumpkin and black kitty :)

And me in the chair lol.

This was something new we tried last year, we made a werewolf out of my husbands old mask and paws get up. We actually built the body around a stuffed stand up Mickey we have lol and stuffed him with newspapers--the plaid shirt and jeans. Then we set him in a car out front with a strobe light in the back and some body parts strewn about. People liked him lol. I'm gonna record him a soundtrack this year-- werewolves of London and other related tunes.

As you can see we like animatronics-- the 2 big guys are great--pirate guy is so friendly and nice and he moves but he scares the little ones. Creepy hooded guy we sort of keep back in the background but he moves and his eyes glow and he either talks or makes some kind of sounds-- can't remember. Last year the swine flu just made me so weak I wasn't able to do much-- I'm in charge of the spider web and it about killed me to do what I did, but it wasn't my best. This year I'm going all out.

Hi Beth!!

Hi Mel!! Now you are a pro picture poster, you should share some too!

Trudi, let us know how the Haunts tour is at DL!

Jayne, those pics are GREAT!!!! Wow, you have a lot of stuff. It looks amazing and so do you in your costume. Swine flu didn't seem to slow you down. lol The spider web and werewolf turned out great. I'm sorry you were so sick though.
Can't wait to see what you are doing this year! :cool1:

Some pics of the awesome, scary clowns at Frightdome. So much fun!! The mazes were great. Loved it.

So this weekend is the big Half Moon Bay Pumpkn Festival. They had the Giants Pumpkin weigh-in this morning, and the winning pumpkin was from CA and it weighed 1,535 pounds!! I would love to see that baby up close!! They'll have them all on display this weekend at the festival, but unfortunately, I have a race this weekend and can't go. Went last year and it was a lot of fun. On the drive in, they have all different farms that have pumpkins for sale so you can just stop and go roaming and picking for a while.

Trudi, let us know how the Haunts tour is at DL!

It started at TOT. Then over to DL, the parade was going on so we had to fight the crowds and go through a few stores to get by. You'd think someone would plan the tour a little better, like maybe after the parade.
Then on to Space, then Snow White, Big Thunder and then we ended at Haunted Mansion and got our Mickey crispi treat, turned in our headsets and went on the ride. The guide talked as we walked but not a whole lot. We went through Rancho del Zocalo and saw the Day Of The Dead decor but not the ranch where all the nice carved pumpkins are, so it's a good thing Sarah and I went there earlier.I thought it would be a bit more fun. We didn't even get a pin. But if you've never done it you should give it a try.

:lmao:
i love when people do this ridiculous yet pretty creative stuff
Me too!
