I just realized that while we are on our first trip 'home' this Nov/Dec it will be the exact week we have to call for a 2 bedroom standard at BWV for the week after Halloween 2004!

I can't believe it. What luck, huh?

Has this ever happened to anyone before and what did you do about it? Can you have someone back home call for you?

Those 2 bedroom standards at BWV go fast as I learned the hard way this month. I'm still on the waitlist for 3 of our nights in December...after calling one week after the 11 month window opened up.

Thanks:)

Yep!

I have sat outside on the benches in front of "Goods to Go" at OKW and called MS on my cel phone!!

It wasn't a problem... I've got my membership number memorized, and I knew the dates I needed...

Yes, we were at BWV in early January one year and I had to call for our early December trip. We also wanted a standard view.

I just called from our room right as MS opened. Since the parks were not even close to busy, we had no problem arriving 1/2 hour later than usual.

You can have someone else call for you, but unless she is listed on your contract as a person who can make reservations, she will have to say she is you (and also have your membership number).

Good luck - Hope everything works out for you.

If you are in the parks early, you could even call from a pay phone. It's an 800# so you wouldn't have to put any change in.

I guess I'll be using my cell phone and putting the call through at 9:00a no matter where I am!

Thanks for the replies.

We were on the Disney Cruise this past Dec when my "call came "..I needed to book a GV at OKW in the 11th month window and gave all the info to my neice who will be going with us and she booked day by day and as the last day fell on a weekend I booked it on the Monday after the cruise... printed out all the info from the computer and gave her the info and she told them it was me and off we go ..couldn't have done it any other way as it would have been ship to shore call and we know how expensive that can be..as you are going to be at DW just call on your cell cause the room phones are very expensive also..good luck...Marianne :earsgirl:  :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

If you are at WDW you can also just call from the room- without charge.

Just dial "O" and ask to be transferred to DVC Member Services. They'll be happy to transfer your internal call that way.

Enjoy!

Doc beat me to the punch with the "call from the room" suggestion.

In fact, Doc, you gave me the same advice when this happened to me last summer. It worked great.

I still had to call the next day from the parks (doing a day-by-day ressie), but it was a good tip!

There's one advantage from calling from the room and not using the #800 number.

If it's one of those busy times and the #800 number gets backed up you may be waiting on the line for awhile. On the other hand, the local number is usually answered right away.

We've called from WDW several times. One time we were using the pay phone at Animal Kingdom (we were doing day by day ressies for the next New Year's Eve) and the CM recognized the park music in the background and asked where we were.

We finished making our OKW GV reservations from our cell phone at Sea World. It was at that moment that I realized that we are truly Disney obsessed.

Be careful allowing someone else to book for you. My mom tried it this year because
I teach and cannot call at nine. She and my father are going with us on this trip. MS asked her if she still wanted her unit in HH or my unit that I was waitlisted for. She didn't know what to say and admitted she was not me. MS was not nice and said how illegal it was. I just faxed them permission to add her as an associate to make reservations. Hopefully this will solve any future problems.
