I will be going with my family to WDW in Sept. for 6 days and have RSDS/CRPS in my right leg (was diagnosed in '93). Was wondering if anyone else here has the same ailment and if they had any problems with their's flaring up. Or if there are any rides that I should avoid (any that put pressure on legs or cause legs to hit something). Thanks
Rachel

I have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy in both feet caused by my back surgery. However, I also use a wheelchair full time due to Muscular Dystrophy. I can't wear shoes because of RSD and any small bump or pressure will leave me throbbing for 30 minutes. With the exception of Soarin' I only rode the wheelchair accessible rides. I would suggest requesting to ride single in small shared ride vehicles like Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion. My biggest concern would be bleacher seating shows like Fantasmic, Indiana Jones, Beauty and the Beast, Lights, Motor, Action because people will be stepping over you. If you are traveling with other people I would suggest a sandwich approach with you in the middle. I don't know how much walking bothers you (any pressure on the bottom of my foot is extremely painful) but if this has been a problem or caused flares, I would definitely rent an ECV.

If you have any other questions fire away :)

Thanks for the advice. My RSDS is what the doctors call a mild case, :lmao: yeah right tell me that when I'm having a bad day. My main problems are pressure on my shin area, even the slightest pressure will have me wanting to punch you in the face, and sitting for long periods. I will be pushing my DS (3 by then) in a stroller so I will have that as protection. The 10 hr. drive is gonna be a problem to but luckily with 3 kids we are gonna make it a 2 day drive so I won't be sitting too long.

The only long rides that I can think of are Spaceship Earth and Ellen's Energy Adventure in Epcot-The Great Movie Ride and Backlot Tour in MGM are a little longer rides. The 3D shows are pretty short and you stand in a line right up til the show. The live shows in MGM may be a problem because you usually are saving your seat 15-30 minutes before the 30 minute show. You could stand until the show started. Or prop your leg up on the bleacher in front of you. If questioned by a CM you could explain that you have a chronic injury that needs to be propped up to relieve pain...
