Anyone with experience camping near DC?

Have you guys stayed at Pohick Bay at all? We live 1hr south of DC so have thought of staying there. How is Bull Run? My DH works at home 100% now but couldn't imagine a commute to work without the Metro working.

We've stayed at Pohick Bay twice and really enjoyed it! Nice park, convenient drive to the Metro stop at Franconia-Springfield. Great trail access if you like to bike or run, as it is adjacent to Mason Neck State Park. The way we did our DC visits when staying there was to do DC every other day and enjoy the park on the opposite days. Worked really well for us!

Recent trips to DC have been at hotels since we've been going down annually for the Rock n Roll half marathon - staying in the city is just so much more convenient for a morning race start. We were on the Metro the day taht it had problems last month. Oddly enough, it was getting too crowded and was moving slow for my taste, so we just got off at the next stop and hoofed it, which worked out better for us anyway - more to see! But I'd still ride it again today.
