Hi. I have been dealing with (mostly) night pain for years now. It seems that I have aches and pains every night when I try to sleep, and I rarely get any quality sleep. I am not sure what the cause is. I do have back issues that come and go (as far as pain and stiffness), but I seem to have a lot of joint pain at night. What could the causes be? Could it be that I need to exercise more, eat better, eliminate something from my diet? I have had a recent physical (did not mention this problem) and everything, including the basic blood work, came out 'normal'. I've looked up symptoms of fibromyalgia (sp) and seem to relate to that, but not sure if I have it. I do have sleep apnea, but don't use a machine because I find it very uncomfortable to wear and gives me a sinus headache. Does anyone else have chronic night pain? Any stories or advice? Thank you.

Sorry that you are having pains at night. I know what you are going through. I have back problems and just got through having my 4th back surgery. This last surgery I had a Morphine pump implanted in me to provide hourly medication directly to the spinal canal. So far so good.....

I don't recommend the morphine pump for your condition...LOL I would look at the bed you are sleeping as the culprit. When was the last time you got a new bed? Does your current bed sag in the middle? Is your bed really soft? I am just wondering if your bed is so soft from wear and tear or design that it causing you to impinge a nerve during the night and causing you pain.

My wife and I both got some relief when we switched to a new bad last year.

Best of Luck !

Patrick

Thank you Patrick. Sorry to hear about all your back problems. It must be really bad if you need a morphine pump! We bought a new mattress last year---supposedly a good one, but we don't like it and it's too expensive to replace right now. It has worn unevenly, so I don't get good support. I tried putting a mattress topper on it, but it didn't help---it was too soft as well so I took it off. Maybe I can find something firm to put on top, but it's already a pillow-top so I don't want my bed to get too high. I should not have bought a pillow top. If I don't get some relief soon I might have to think about replacing the mattress afterall. Thanks for the advice. Hope you recover well from all your surgeries.

Have you tried to flip the mattress over? I went through the same thing and ended up getting a new one. Next time you go to the Dr. you should tell him, there could be a cause. Try taking an Alieve before bedtime . I also found a lot of relief from that.

Hi dismom,
Can you give me what exactly pain is and where it comes from in your body which is disturbing your sleep if you give me a exact information I would help you in the best way possible.
