Silly question. I heard from a friend who has allergies that it wasn't a good place to stay. Both my DS's & myself have animal & outdoor allergies. We have stayed at the WL twice & loved it, but was looking for another resort to try.

Opinions?

Thanks,
Robin

It depends on just what you're allergic to and the time of year. I've stayed at AKL in winter and had no problem. I stayed in early Oct. and was a mess thanks to a flowering tree we have in FL that's planted in abundance at AKL. Same thing goes for other WDW resorts - my allergic reactions vary depending on what's blooming/pollinating at the time. My suggestion is to bring whatever allergy meds work best for you, just in case. Remember, it's a semi-tropical climate, so there's usually something allergenic in the air.

I can't imagine AKL being any worse than any other resort. The animals are all outside and they really can't get that close. I would think that if you can visit AK for a day, then staying at AKL won't be a problem.

My friend went to Animal Kingdom and almost died-literally. She was rushed to the emergency room and stayed in the hospital for a month. It was so bad that her husband flew her family in to see her because the doctors thought she was going to die. Thay were never able to figure out what set off the allergy attack. She is allergic to alot of things.

I'm allergic to darn near everything and haven't had any problems at the AKL during any of my stays there.

DH has allergies to dust, dander etc. DS and I to tree pollens. NO problems.

I have not had any more problems at WDW than I do at home. We love AKL.

I am allergic to trees, grasses, weeds, animals, etc, etc (if it grows, I'm allergic to it [slight exageration]). I also have some food allergies - corn, barley (includes beer), soy. October is always my worst month for allergens. However, I take preventive measures and take my allergy meds when I know the allergens are abundant.

AKL shouldn't be any worse than other hotels, just maybe don't get a savanah veiw room. It's not like the animals are in the hotel and rooms.

We stayed in a Savannah view room and I didn't have a single problem. All 3 of us have allergies and I wasn't bothered at all. While the animals are outside, they are quite some distance from your room.
