My sons were 16 and 18 when my husband walked out. They are now 21 and almost 19. I'm their custodial parent.
Will they ever realize the sacrifices that I'm making for them?? DS#1 got new glasses over the Christmas break and I had to mail them to him. It took four e-mails to get him to acknowledge that he received them! I realize he's busy, but would thanks be so hard?? My glasses got run over by a car and I can't afford to replace them -- at least not for another year and 1/2 when my insurance will help pay for them.
Or all the food and cases of pop that they drink when they're home on vacation from college. And then for two weeks I have to eat peanut butter and jelly because I don't have enough to buy groceries.
Plus, I'm keeping a 3000 sq. ft. house and paying $300+ gas bills this winter, just so that they'll still have a home to come home to.
I realize that I'm just feeling sorry for myself today. But I could really use some encouragement!
Thanks,
Edie
