Anyone who has purchased a fridge or other major appliance recently...

Really weird suggestion. Take whatever empty and clean milk/juice/beverage jug you usually buy into a store with you and figure out what shelves it can go on, and how many you can fit in there. This might sound weird, but I have a family of 4, and can only put milk in 2 places in my fridge (in the door only) and it'll only hold 4 gallons. Add in coffee creamer and maybe a juice, and it's down to 3 gallons. That's not enough space for us since we try to grocery shop every 7-10 days. Since this is a disney board, and there's a reasonable chance you have kids, this is something to consider.
This! We purchased a bottom freezer French door with the flex drawer. Make it a freezer! Make it a wine chiller! So many options...we're not that flexible I guess. We missed the interior space on the fridge. Not enough room for our tall items. Very weird, creative arrangements required. We have since moved and left that fridge behind. It was a Samsung, no issues with the fridge but when we did have issues with the Samsung dishwasher we had trouble getting some to come out and service it, even with Costco's extended warranty. "Very few Samsung repairmen in your area."

Samsung has finally acknowledged that this is a design flaw in the French Door models design, and they will now send someone to come out and replace the ice maker and some other parts, no charge to you. (I've also got one that did this.) Have the model and serial number ready, and it often takes a long time on hold.
Thank you so much for this information!!

So far we like our LG, but reading that there are known issues with the brand here, I'm glad we bought it from Costco on our Costo citi card. But at about a year, so far so good. I do think the ice stinks and tastes bad sometimes, but not always--so it's an issue with it sitting around gathering odors, not an issue in the water line. I need to get a covered ice container in there. What I do now is dump it all before we have guests and serve only new ice.

Let me take a moment to give advice on another appliance, because I just have to: NEVER get a Bosch dishwasher! I cannot tell you how much we hate ours--we are actually planning on throwing it away at only a few years old. It frequently but sporadically produces dishes that have an odor to them (about 1 in 3 loads--enough that it is very annoying). No it's not the filter, and it hasn't been any of the many many suggestions we've tried for fixing it. There sure are a lot of complaints about this brand producing smelly dishes, though! I suspect it's a do-gooder water saving issue. How much good is it to the environment when we routinely have to wash 2x and are planning to throw a working dishwasher in a landfill? I wish we'd gotten it from Costco, and we will certainly buy its replacement there, but not another Bosch. Ever.

Good idea.

My DD has a ice /water dispenser. It's nice, but it takes a lot of space.

We bought a set of Samsung appliances on a Black Friday deal at Lowes about six years ago. They aren't great.

The fridge has a bottom drawer freezer. My only complaint is the ice maker does not make anywhere near the quantity of ice our old Kenmore made.

The stove thermostat must be off. I have to cook everything about 25 degrees hotter than the recipe calls for.

The microwave door switches are garbage. I am now a pro at replacing them.

The dishwasher is the worst. It has always been extremely loud. It doesn't clean well. The silverware tray not being in the door takes up a lot of rack space. It has recently developed draining problems and will probably be the first piece from this set to require replacing. I definitely won't go with Samsung again.

My bottom freezer is a drawer, not a door like you'd find in a top freezer. I can't stand how narrow a side-by-side is.
Side by side is annoying. The one we have came with the house.Once it gets replaced I am getting the bottom freezer. We don't go into it that often , so having the fridge portion up top is better.
