?? Anyone who has done the Petty experience 3 laps?

Did you have to reserve a spot or did you just show up? What time of day is it available? Is it available every day? Was there a big crowd (i.e. long time to wait)? How long did the whole thing take?

I think dh would get a kick out of this, but just wanted to know if anyone was not impressed with the experience. I would be going for the least expensive option (the one where they drive you). Is it over way too fast for the $90 you shell out?

My DH did the Petty ride-a-long and loved it. We went mid week, weekends are busy we heard. We didn't have reservations, we were told by a CM at the TC that a Petty van would pick up people; weather permitting, near the Kennels at the MK on the hour and take them over to the track. That's what we did, waited for the van but you can drive over yourself. The van was very easy and a lot less walking. The van driver gave us the run down so we knew what we were doing when we got there. We were there less than 2 hrs. There is a sign up sheet and lots of paper work if I remember correctly. I watch while DH took his ride. He was on Cloud 9 the rest of the day.

Princess Vija - Sveika! The Richard Petty driving experience is a racetrack, where for various fees, you can either ride along for a few laps in a race car with an experienced driver or actually take a course in racecar driving and then, depending on which package you choose, do anywhere from 8 to, I think, 30 laps around the track yourself. The ride-along package is about $90 and the next step up is the 8 lap drive yourself package which is over $300 (probably closer to $400 but don't quote me on price). There are deals with more laps but they do get quite pricey. When you drive to MK, you drive right past the racetrack (I think it might have actually been built on part of the MK parking lot).
