Anyone watching CNN with the Live Interview of the Mother that beat her child?

Kind of sad when those that perpetrate the crime are the primary focus of some folks' sympathy, while the victim gets a patronizing"of course the mother should be punished" as her only sympathy.

Anyhow, this thread's been hijacked in the same way most are for far too long. Back to the original question...I think the mother should be punished to the fullest extent that the law allows.I don't think she's at all remorseful for what he did, I think she's remorseful because she was stupid enough to get caught.

Boy, there's some interesting points of view on this thread! I'm not sure why we're get off the tangent about this EROS guy and whether he's a doctor or not or whatever, since it has nothing to do with the topic, and I'm not sure why anyone would care, cuz I sure don't. He seems to like to stir things up, from what I've noticed here. Got a lot of time on his hands, I guess.

Anyhow, first thing is to protect the kid. Next thing is to punish the mother. Doesn't make much difference to me why she'd beat her kid, if she was abused as a child or the moon was full or whatever. People need to take responsibilty for their actions.Fact is, she did it, it was caught on tape,it's a crime, so punish her and protect the kid. Pretty simple, when you take away all the politically correct stuff and the arguing with EROS, and the name calling and the insinuations, right?

Have a good one!

Back to the original question...

What was the question again? Oh yeah...the live interview with the mother that beat her child...no I didn't see it, I was working.

I think the mother should be punished to the fullest extent that the law allows.I don't think she's at all remorseful for what he did, I think she's remorseful because she was stupid enough to get caught.

I agree. This child has more than likely been abused her entire short life. I think the mother getting caught on video was a blessing in disguise. This poor little girl may not have lived long enough to see her next birthday.

I also think it's sad that this mother is getting all the attention. They should stop airing the interview, and focus more on how to stop child abuse.

I agree Blondie, I don't even want to see her face on the TV. I feel the same toward her as I do Susan Smith, don't look in those eyes, those are the eyes of evil.

It's interesting to me that EROS the non-Christian acts more Christian than any of the rest of us could ever hope to.

 While I will agree that Eros has compassion for some very sinful and evil people (murderers, rapists, abusers), I would hardly call him Christlike as he says he doesn't believe in God or Jesus. I commend him for finding the good in many people who most people find repulsive.

I hope the mother gets the help she desperately needs because as Mamu said she has an anger problem. She is taking that anger out on her child. I hope that this child can grow to break the actions which have probably filtered down through generations.
This young mother doesn't need our hate, she needs help. But at the same time, little Martha needs to be safe and loved.

Here's what really bothers me: She said on tv this morning that she lost control but I find it strange that she was able to control herself walking out of the store, controlled herself walking in the parking lot and even controlled herself while the child slowly got in the vehicle. She is still under control while looking around and making sure no one is gonna see her. Sounds pretty planned out to me.

EROS eases the suffering of others every day. How many of us can say that we do the same? And isn't that the calling of all Christians - to ease your brother's suffering? It's interesting to me that EROS the non-Christian acts more Christian than any of the rest of us could ever hope to.

Speak for yourself. That would be the in parentheses "Christian", which to me when I was younger meant the people who always told other people they were going to Hell. Certain people have changed my mind about that, but not all. :D

Becoming adversarial at any given opportunity is not exactly a noble thing. I don't see a need for it at all.

How come these always turn into a debate about EROS? Many ppl on the board always share their same views over and over again, but we don't debate them.

That's a very good question, why does everything have to be about EROS. I assumed it was because he likes it that way, and sometimes I'm happy to oblige. {{shrugs}}
