We are leaving THIS WEDNESDAY for California. I had planned to pack all weekend and clean my house from top to bottom. Well, I haven't started yet. I got sick at work Friday and left and came home and slept. I have gotten sicker and sicker each day. Doc said it was flu and prescribed me hydrocodone cough syrup, so i was literally knocked out all day yesterday.I was able to get online last night for a bit, but that was all I could physically do. I need a little pixie dust so I can get everything done today. I cannot stay out of work tomorrow, even if I'm at deaths door. Tomorrow is a very important day in our payroll dept.
Please just send some pixie dust my way so that I will have the energy to pack and clean house AND that I'll feel better by Wed!
I'm sick and not excited about our big trip :guilty:

Pack now, you can clean when you get home, who'se going to notice a little dust if you are gone. Packing will make you more excited. I actually don't pack till the last minute, but I take all our stuff and lay in out (a guest room works great) and keep sorting till I have what I want. :rotfl:

Sending lots of pixie dust your way! :wizard: Hope you feel better soon!!!!!

I agree...pack and forget about the housecleaning. Ask kids to help out as much as possible. Do the really important stuff (bath & kitchen) especially since you have been sick.

Take purell with you and wash wash wash your hands (all family members!!)

Lots of pixie dust your way as well. We leave tomorrow and I've had a sick baby all weekend so I've decided to forego the cleaning as well and just concentrate on packing....and checking the disboards. Have a great trip!

aww CD...Im so sorry your sick...hey go get some of that zicam stuff...its shortens the flu...tastes nasty as all getout but it really works....it will definitely get you through work tomorrow...hope you feel better and to heck with the cleaning I say....hope this makes you all better pixiedust:

THANK YOU for all the well wishes. I sound like such a drama queen in the OP. We have just planned for months on this and it's such a disappointment.
I was able to get the kitchen done, will rest some more and do the bathroom. DH packed his suitcase last week, the girls did theirs while I was sleeping this afternoon. I am going to take all your advice and not worry with the rest of the house til we get back. I just hope and pray I'm better tomorrow AND that I don't make anyone else sick. I'll try and do some of my packing tonight and Tuesday night.
Thanks for all the pixie dust, I feel better knowing my DIS friends care!

Thanks for the tip, I'll pick up the zicam tomorrow before work. This is pay week and we process payroll on Monday. That means the whole dept has to stay until it's done. THat could mean being done by 5:30 OR as late as 11pm. Depends on how the system does. So I really need to be in good shape tomorrow, it may be a long day.

I hope you feel better in time for your trip! Get lots of rest! When I have a cold or the flu I drink the Coldbuster from Jamba Juice and add an immunity boost. It helps me. Just an idea. :thumbsup2

Speaking of packing- we leave this Friday from GA to DLR for 4 days! :cool1: What is the weather usually like this time of year? I'm thinking all jeans, a couple tee-shirt, and a couple long sleeves and a jacket. Does that sound right? :confused3 I do hope we get to check out the Neverland Pool at DLH during our stay. It's heated, right?

Yikes! I can't believe it's coming up so soon!

it should be in the mid to high 70's range...right now its about 73º and Im wearing shorts and a sleeveless shirt...granted Im sitting inside but I have doors open and fan on...I would bring some shorts but everything else you are bringing should be fine...its been getting down to high 50's at night so you might be fine just with long sleeves or short sleeves and lightweight jacket...seems as though the weather will be about what your experiencing at home right now :goodvibes

I usually pack as I do laundry. As I take things out and fold them I put them in piles- take, maybe take and dont need to take. When the laundry is done, I just have a little bit of final things to take care of and we are good to go.

And since your kids are 11 and 12, there is NO reason they can't help pack. Have them start on their own clothes. Then, go thru what they have and make sure you approve, and add what you think they will need.

Have your husband and kids help you clean the bathroom and keep the kitchen clean until its time to go. No reason they all can't pitch in!

Sounds fine. At this time of the year it can get cold in the evenings. So we usually bring sweatshirts and jackets for later, and put them in a locker. Pay for the locker once, and you can access it throughout the day without additional charge. It's also very handy for dropping off souvenirs.

Everyone is being so sweet! The girls have been a great help today and I know my DH will be working hard on getting everything ready tomorrow since I'll have to work late.
At first I felt kind of silly coming on here looking for sympathy over a silly flu when there are so many real problems in the world, but everyone has been so nice to me, I really do feel a bit better!
And eatmypixiedust, I LOVE the sparkly Tink! She's my favorite :thumbsup2

Ok, I'm sending the magic :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Just because your flu isn't the most important thing in the world doen't mean we we wouldn't wish you back to good health. :grouphug:
