Anyone visit Graceland? Where did you stay?

I'm thinking of taking a road trip to Graceland with my mom this summer. She's a big Elvis fan. Does anyone have some suggestions about where to stay?

Anyone from the Memphis area, feel free to answer too. All help is appreciated.

I would stay in East Memphis or if you like casinos, Tunica Mississippi is close and has many nice choices.

We stayed right across the street at the Heartbreak Hotel. DD loved it. DH said he didn't need to stay there again. Too many Elvis fans there for him.

The part of Memphis that Graceland is located in is not a good area at all. If you want to pm or email me

disneysbelle@cox-internet.com with more specifics on what else you are doing in the area besides Graceland then I could try and help you more.

Robinsonville Mississippi is about 20 minutes away and that is where all of the Riverboat casinos are. If you gamble then this would be a nice area to stay in.

Then there is SHOPPING!!!!! The Wolfchase Galleria is a good ways away from Graceland but it is a very nice and big mall and all of the good shopping is in this area.

Then you have downtown where The Pyramid, Riverboat Cruises, Mud Island etc are. I really wouldn't recommend staying here either.

There is an Adams Mark hotel about half way between the Galleria and Graceland...well its probably closer to the Galleria but it is a very nice hotel.

Beauty is correct. Graceland is not in the best part of town. We actually stayed near-by. We had no idea about the neighborhood. EVERYTHING closes at dark & the streets were deserted. We were so uncomfortable in the area that we only stayed there one night instead of the 3 we reserved. I don't mean this to discourage you from visiting Graceland. It was worth the trip - just don't stay nearby. We did end up in Tunica & found that enjoyable.
