Anyone used the package and had AP's so you chose the one day ticket?

I was looking over the MYW package with the dining and you have to buy tickets too. Does anyone know if the 1 day ticket has an expiration? It mentions that the 7 day tickets expire 14 days from 1st day of use but nothing about the others, esp. the 1 day. We have AP's so we don't need the tickets but if we could save it for future use that would be ok. So does anyone know for sure? Thanks!

We are struggling with a similar situation, not with APs, but with having to buy a one day ticket to get the package deal.

So I called Disney, and as long as you don't put your room card that has that one day on it into any entrance turnstile, it stays on there and does not expire. Once you use it to get into any park, then it becomes activated and expires. If you save it, they also told me you can upgrade it at the parks ONLY on a future visit to add PH or more days.

hope this helps!!

What the above poster said is true. I've done this once already this year and will be doing it again at the end of october. We are not renewing our ap's this year so next year we will have some ticket days already built up.

I took my son and D-I-L to WDW Sept 17th-24th. I have an AP, but they do not. In order to get the free dining, eveyone in the room had to have the same ticket. All I had to do was buy one day base MYW tickets for all of us and then upgrade theirs when we got there. However, due to the comparatively higher price of one day tickets compared to 7 day tickets I chose to go ahead and buy us all 7 day MYW with pluses. The CM assured me that as long as I never put my room key into a turnstyle that it wouldn't be activated and I would not need to buy the nonexpiry option. When we got down there I went to guest services and asked if they could take the MYW ticket off my room key and havet them just give me a 7 day MYW (with pluses) ticket that I could lock up in the safe. They couldn't, but did show me in writing where the ticket did not start until it was activated. They assured me the ticket would be good (despite the dates on the room key) for life. The last day I went to guest services at the MK and again asked the CM if he could issue me a regular 7 day MYW ticket. He again said they could not do that, but assured me that as long as I hadn't inserted the ticket into a turnstyle to activate it that it was good for life. I asked if I need to add the nonexpiry option and he again assured me that it wasn't necessary and not to worry about the date on the room key. He even scanned the key to make that it had not been activated and told me I could use it anytime in the future.

I used my AP while I was down there in Sept and will be using it again in Dec, however I will be using my left over 7 day MYW with pluses when I go back down there next spring. My understanding is that ALOT of AP holders did this during the free dining promotion and will either be using their left over MYW tickets next year to apply to their AP renewal or like me will be using them instead of renewing their AP. When I first bought the pkg the CM suggested that I upgrade my 7 day MYW ticket to a 10 day MYW ticket when I got down there in Sept just in case ticket prices go up next year. I didn't, because I plan to take my GD back in the spring and will buy us one day base tickets (in order to be eligible to purchase the dining plan). Then when we get down there I will just upgrade her ticket to match mine.

Just to add to the above, DH & I have AP's but our 3rd guest did not, we booked the package with dining as such:

2 - one day base MYW tickets (will not expire until used) for us
1 - 5 day MYW ticket for our 3rd guest.

We were told to keep our 1 day base and apply it towards our next AP.

Unused MYW tickets do not expire, even if they are only for 1 day. Multi-day, partially used MYW tickets expire 14 days from the first use if they do not have the no-expiration feature.

Best wishes -

Yikes...I am confused. We are AP holders and when I asked about purchasing just a 1 day base ticket for each of us they told me that I would have to activate it in order to get the dining. I was hoping to "save" the tickets for a future trip. I am just not getting this! :) Can someone help me to understand this better?

We are AP holders, we have done the package twice, both times getting a 1 day base ticket and neither time did we have to activate it. You have been misinformed I believe.

Can anyone explain how you can use the 1 day base to renew your AP? Lets say you've went twice in the year and purchased the 1 day base each time to get dining and haven't activated them. Will they take the two 1 days and apply them to your AP? How does that actually work.

Thanks!!!

You can only use one ticket (any kind unused ) towards any kind of upgrade.
eg. unused portion of a parkhopper can be applied to an AP or unused 1 day base towards a parkhopper or AP.

Thank you and one last question. Are they only for the use of the person originally purchased for? Or could you save them up and then use them later with different people? ie could we let my sister and BIL use them if we have AP's?

The ticket is programed into your room key that has your name on it. I know that the right answer is that it is only good for the person that it was bought for, what I don't know is when you go to use it will they ask for ID? Personally I wouldn't want to find out the hard way but maybe someone else on the boards has tried it and will respond.

It shouldn't be a problem for someone else to use the 1 day ticket, even if it is on your room key.

When using the one-day ticket are you still required to do the finger scan?

Tammy

So you can't take multiple 1 day tickets and put them towards 1 ticket? Annual Pass?

Also you can't apply the 1-day towards a renewal of your AP (so you'd lose that discount).
