Well, we booked a last minute (well for us anyway) trip to WDW for Easter week. The only decent flight I could find was out of Jacksonville, most of the flights out of MCO or TPA were already booked. I think JAX is about 2 1/2 hours from WDW, but I'd like confirmation of that. Also, how crowded does JAX get? Do we need to arrive 2 hours beforehand or is 1 1/2 hours sufficient. I plan on giving us about 3 1/2 hours to get there, due to unpredictable I95 traffic, so with a 2PM flight I plan on leaving AKL at 9AM. Do you think that is enough time? Also, is everything in one terminal, or are there several terminals? If there are several, which one is Southwest located in? Also, I read on JAX's website that some of the car rentals are located on site, and that they are located on property, in the parking garage, is this correct? I appreciate any advice I can get!!!

Your thinking is correct. I think 1 1/2 hours would be good to allow. Yes the cars are in the parking garage. If I remember correctly it is all one terminal.

If I remember correctly I think its about 2 hrs from Orlando to Jacksonville. We too are flying to JAX. The direct flights Easter time from ewr-mco were crazy. We actually extended our vacation to include a couple days at the beach before we got to Disney. In reality I'm not saving any money this way, but I just refused to pay the fares to mco.

DH and I flew r/t from DCA to JAX over the New Year holiday for our stay at Disney. There is one terminal, with three concourses. We rented from National, which wasn't on the JAX airport site at all, but the counter was right at baggage claim. Most of the car rental companies have their reservation desks right by baggage claim, with their frequent renter booths out in the garage that is adjacent to baggage claim.

FYI-- while DH waited for the luggage, I walked out to the garage, went up to the National Emerald Booth (they don't do EA), presented license and rental card, got the keys to the vehicle and the parking spot location where it could be found. I went back in to baggage claim, found DH with luggage, walked back out to the locked car that I had keys for, and drove away from the airport on 295. It's a 2.5 hour drive straight thru to Disney (with little traffic).
