Just curious if anyone has used an Amby Baby hammock crib for their infants...if so, how long did you use it and how easy is it to travel with?

It has worked wonders to get my son to sleep with his acid reflux! We are currently borrowing a friends, but looking at buying one for long term use. We would bring it to WDW when he is 6 months old, but I have read that some recommend that infants get out of them by 4 months....any user out there with experience? How easy is it to deal with it in checked luggage?

My dd is 3 now, but we did have one for about a year. It was a godsend!! My daughter still has reflux, and is finally sleeping on a flat bed. The Amby was so great. I can't say enough about it.

We did travel to visit family in Miami with our Amby. It was easy to check as baggage and the travel bag traveled well. No problems. Easy to set up once we were there and great for a small space (we were using a spare bedroom for the 3 of us).

My daughter used it from 4 months old to just past a year old. They say it can be used for babies up to 2, but I don't really see how. My daughter was sitting up in it and getting too tall for it.

In any event, I would recommend you purchase it as it can be sold at a high price on eBay when you are done. That's what we did and recouped almost all of our money.

Good luck!

My son too has/had reflux and I think the amby was a much better solution for him than the crib. He slept soo much better as a newborn than he has since giving the amby up. Unfortunately we had to move him to his crib when he was about 6mo because he had learned how to roll onto his stomach in it and I was worried about that with the cushy mattress and all - plus because of the curve of the amby, he wasn't able to roll back onto his back! Too scary for me - he went right into his crib. Of course, he kept waking from having rolled onto his tummy constantly(despite my effots to keep turning him over). He's been a tummy sleeper ever since - but I worried constantly until well after his first b-day (the whole SIDS/tummy link :scared1: )
I do have this to say about the amby too though - I honestly believe that using it helped keep DS's head nice and round, no flat spots:thumbsup2 Even his pediatrician had commented many times on what a nice round head he had - told me she sees TONS of babies with flat spots. I never noticed it before, but now that I have a child of my own, I see a lot of family/friend's children who do have flat spots.

Oh, sorry - never traveled with it but since you already know what it's like to set it up just ask yourself if it would be simple enough to do on the road. Personally, DH and I had a terrible time trying to set ours up. Did it once and it stayed that way until DS outgrew it:)

Thanks! Both answers were just what I was looking for....

I set up the Amby and found it quite easy to do, it is lugging the big green bag around the airport with all of our other baby stuff, too, that I am worried about! First trip with the little man is coming in Dec, and we will stick out like sore thumbs as first time parents bringing too darn much stuff....as we gimp through the airport with a car seat, stroller, and crib!

I have read that it is a good idea to spend more "tummy time" or play mat time with Amby infants because they are missing out on the normal turning over most babies do after a few months in regular cribs. I am guessing our little guy will probably move to a crib at 7 months or so as long as his can safely sleep in the Amby until then.

Thanks for your replies!:)

my son, whos now almost 3 only used it for a few months, since he learned to roll early on. I loved it, and suggest you look on ebay and craigslist to find one. we traveled with it a few time, and had no problems carrying it or setting it up. just as easy as my friends packnplays.
