We opened our in ground pool and the water is freezing. It has been an exceptionally cool spring (11 degrees daily average cooler than last May). We don't have a heater and are thinking of maybe a solar system but first I was thinking about trying the solar sun rings. We have a solar cover but it is a major pain taking on and off. Anybody use these things? Do they help? Are they easy to take off, store? Do they mess with the automatic pool vac? We have an old style polaris. TIA for any advice.

We use a solar heater like this on our above ground pool. We have a 30 foot round and use two. They are really nice and doesn't use its own pump system, just hooks up to the same water lines as the pump. We use it in conjunction with our solar cover. It heats the water significantly faster. We live in WI and our pool was ready to swim at 80 degrees on May 15th this year, far before the air was warm enough to swim. We swam into October last year.
