Just wondering if anyone would recommend the purchase of the Quickutz machine? I found the machine for $60, but the alphabet dies seem to be a bit pricey (between $60 and $160 for just upper or lower case). I'm thinking about purchasing it and wondered if there are any postives/negatives I should know.

TIA!!! :flower:

p.s. I just learned that one of my coworkers designed one of the fonts that is used for a Quickutz alphabet, which got me thinking about purchasing it again.

I love mine! and right now they are alot of places offering qk at 40% off, so now would be an excellent time to start collecting. :goodvibes maggie

I have the quikutz hand tool with the CK typist font that was on special on QVC a few months ago. I don't like using the hand tool and I also have the Sizzix Sidekick adapter for the wafer thin dies. However, when I need just a few letters, it is much faster to use the hand tool than to run them through the sidekick. I also don't like that I am punching out both upper and lower case when I need only one or the other. That being said, though, I am still glad I have it around for when I need it.

I am starting to lean toward stamping my letters because cutting and adhering (I use the Xyron) the letters gets too time consuming for me.

I am a sizzix girl - and I love the sizzlettes -
but with the influence on some disboard member - ya know the UNOFFICIAL Target Queen Maggie -
I did buy the Paige Alpha from Quikutz online on sale for $80 and I just got the 'converters (aka pieces of plastic) to use them with the sidekick or the original sizzix
(I LOVE that I can buy and use whatever I want!)
Normally I find QK to pricey - I like going to Mikes with my 40-50 off coupons ;) although QK does have some great fonts - I am bumbed I couldn't find a screamin deal on the alha sets this time :(

bubbasmom99 - Do you purchase special ink for stamping in scrapbooks? I have been thinking about going that route too. It seems very flexible, with the different color inks and all of the alpha sets.

Are there any kinds you recommend? Jsut wondering about them being acid-free and all of that.

I have quickutz and the sizzix. While I like the selection of fonts from quickutz, the price is a little too high and the tool is hard on my hand. Tell me how I can use my sizzix with my quickutz dies? I'd like to try that! :flower:

quickutz person here! I love it for many reasons! I like the size of the fonts. I love that it is super easy to transport. I also bought the comfy handle. That makes using it so much better!
Just watch for sales and you can get some great deals!

MLA - regarding stamping in scrapbooks. I buy most of my stuff from Stampin Up or Close to My Heart, and everything they sell is acid free. Most everything you find at craft stores these days in regards to rubber stamping is going to be acid free. You can make your own patterned paper by stamping a background, or use the alphabets for titles (what I mainly do). I will usually punch out a square/circle/other and stamp on that and then adhere it, or stamp directly onto the page (there are circle/square/fancy shape stamps too).

Check out www.splitcoaststampers.com for a ton more ideas for stamping.

Have fun!!

I have sizzix, but recently purchased the adapter for the quickcuts--- but do not have any of the alphas yet, (but my friend does  ) and I have borrowed hers and they work great!!! they are a little bigger than the sizzix letters.
