I love my vet, but they are soo expensive and charge for an office visit for every shot! I have two kittens, they are sisters. one is fully vetted and the other needs her shots. I see that Petco offers a "4 in 1" shot for kittens which is only $42. However, my vet had me make 3 seperate appointments for these vaccines..

So, has anyone used Petco/Luvmypet and had good or bad experiences? I'm sure each location is different, but overal how was the experience and did your pet have any problems because of the vaccines?

Thanks

We have used Petco for our dogs for years. Works out great! I'm selective about their vaccinations so we get what we want and tell our Vet it's done.

I used them for my last rabies vaccine for my 2 cats. They were in a LARGE van parked beside the store. We went inside the store registered, payed, and then waited our turn outside by the van. It went smoothly and would do it again!!!

I was wondering about this too. We just went to the vet this weekend and it cost $200 for my dogs annual vaccines and the appt, and that doesn't even include heart worm medication! :headache: I will definitely keep this in mind for the future.

Just a note of caution on these....LuvmyPet contracts out their vets to administer the shots. In my experience, not all of these vets are very "bedside manner" friendly. It's like an assembly line, and if you have a dog that is fearful or agressive at the vet, it might be a stressful experience for your pet. One vet was very forceful when handling my scared dog, and he wouldn't let me handle him while he was giving him the injections and bordatella (which is shot up the nose)...just wanted to stab him and get him out of there. Made it worse than it could have been if I had been able to hold my dog and comfort him. Not all of them are like that, we have had good ones also, but we have had a few issues with some who don't take to well to animals that are nervous. It's because of this that I now suck it up and pay the money at my vet...just for the consistancy and because they know my dogs and cat the best, and you don't know what kind of vet you are going to get until you get there. It is a much cheaper option, but only you know what's best for your pet.

FYI: It is not in your best interest to hold your pet while getting vaccinated. They react very differently to owners when stressed and you could get bitten as a result. We hear it all the time in our practice: 'Fluffy would never bite me', and then bam, they get bitten. In our state, we must report all bites to the Board of Health even if it is to the owners and this means an in-house quarrantine. Also, distemper vaccinations, when given for the first time, are spread out 3-4 weeks apart. Thereafter, it's once a year or every 2 years. What you DO get by having vaccinations with your veterinarian is a complete physical and this is so important. Please don't discount how important these visits are. Your pet's progress, baseline tests, weight, changes in kidneys, a murmur that wasn't there last year, the mass that was so small last year is triple in size this year, etc; are all recorded at these important visits. Most veterinarians try very hard to keep vaccination costs down in order to keep clients coming in for the physicals.

Yes, all the time. Can't beat the prices. I think it is around 65$ for all the shots!
