I was looking into paypal as an option to receive funds from points rental. How does it work? Anyone have problems with it?

I used it with no problems. I just gave the renter my account name and they sent me the money. Easy peasy lemon squeezy

It's the only option I use when renting points to anyone.

paypal is the online gold standard these days as it protects both the seller and buyer.

things generally go off without a hitch, but there have been a handful of reports that if the reservation is made on short notice, a fraud-minded renter might object to the charges and call paypal, who often sides with the payer and not the payee. there are risks involved.

there are also fees (3% i think), so you need to decide whether to pass that along or include it in your original pricing...

I used to use paypal.

If you do this do NOT give them access to your bank account. Strange things will happen. Money will randomly disappear, they refunded everytime I called but claimed I had done things like "signed up for Skype" (which I hadn't etc...) Luckily it was a seperate account and I finally got tired of dealing with them (They wouldn't let me use my funds to pay an apartment rental in Paris because "it's fraudulent". I called and said the company had a great reputation, had been in existence for years etc... response "we have not paid them before and won't let you send them your money" LOL! I paid them another way and closed the PayPal account. And yes, the apartment was there and just as advertised when I got to Paris!)

As for protection...well... Not so much. One of my friends paid via PayPal for an Ebay purchase, it arrived broken. Paypal's response "the merchant says it was well packed and it must have been dropped by you" no refund. (Luckily the merchant did get the money refunded by the shipping company but...)

Another friend arrived at a villa rental in S. Florida to discover it was FILTHY (with rodents!) She refused to stay there. Landlord said "she stayed" Paypal said "landlord said you made mess, no refund" She's still fighting this one in small claims court!
