get the gift cards instead?? I read that they are fee free if you exchange for a gift card. I was thinking of doing it and getting a best buy gift card then buying Disney gift cards OR I see Southwest is on the list too. We fly SW and our college son flies twice a year to/from college home. Just curious if others have opted for the gift cards. Our credit union used to have a free coin counter but they took them out. It was so perfect and easy to have what change we save over the year/years go straight into our checking or savings account. It was one of the ways we saved for a future trip. Would use it towards gas if we were driving or for boarding out dogs. Toss coins in a jug is a mindless way of saving.

I do. It's generally how I fund my Amazon purchases. You get a receipt with a code on it that you can then use as a gift card. No fees are deducted.

I used it this weekend at my grocery store and chose regal cinema gift card as my choice to use towards Spiderman movie in July, but the machine ended up having an error at the end of the process and surprisingly gave me the cash option but with no fee. I was able to take it to customer service and get cash. So, although the gift card had an issue, at least there ended up being no fee. I was a little worried for a minute when the machine had "error", then "$0.00" come across, hoping I didn't have to go through a hassle to prove the $25 in coins I put in.

Yes, I get Amazon gc because I buy a lot of household items there and transfer the amount into my vacation fund.
Banks still take rolled coin too (if you can't find a good gift card match at Coinstar). ---I don't have a brick and mortar bank anymore but rolling coin is a good kid project, and they can write your acct number on each roll too.

One thing to keep in mind is that not all coinstar machines have the same gift cards. The one at my WalMart does not have Amazon, but Fred Meyers does. If you are looking for a certain gift card, check the coinstar website to be sure your local store has what you are looking for.
Sometimes they change too.

I would talk to them h banks that are local to you - we have 4 Banks’s but only 1 has a coin counter and they do it’s for no charge for anyone

Oh that is a good idea.

OH wow....I am sure that did freak you out at first. LOL

Just an FYI, you can no longer use a Best Buy gift card to buy another gift card.

I use it to get Amazon gcs. Works fine. My bank charges if you want to use their coin counter. Lovely.
My daughter used to have a bank in college that did free coin counting and we would use that. Then our credit union got them and we used them, THEN they took them out after a couple of years.

So, this wouldn't work once you've already amassed a good bit of change, but when the change part of my (very small) wallet gets full, I go to the self-checkout and select cash, then I put in all my change and finish my purchase by using my card. It doesn't take very long and I'm not making a cashier stand there counting it either (risking their drawer being off at the end of the night and all that).

Then I never have to play games with coin machines or rolling coins.

That's a great idea. I never thought of doing that.

We had a $100 of change we recently cashed out for a gift card-got a restaurant one to use on our vacation in June-was lovely to have whole meal taken car of!

I have a few jars that are getting pretty full. One is just pennies and I plan to redeem for a Starbucks eGC. I can add it to my Starbucks app and use it to buy food and drink at any of the Starbucks locations at Disney.

I’ll just roll the silver coins and take them to my bank. They will still accept unwrapped coins but they send them out to be counted. Then they deposit the funds in my checking account. I miss their Penny Arcade.

Nice rainy day event for kids. We rolled ours the other day and found $310 that we saved over a 2 yr period
