Just wondering if anyone out there can help me pick a good one out? I went to sally's beauty supply store to get one and the prices ranged from $19.99 to $150. I was so confused. I dont have really long hair and its already pretty straight, i just need something for the ends--thanks!

whatever kind you get, get ceramic. I got mine from Target for about $20 and love it. I'll never go back to the gold plated!

Ceramic is the way to go - Chi is the best brand on the market, I think, but at around $100 a pop it's not always the best on your pocketbook! I bought a $40 one at Sally, ceramic, and it did great!

I straighten my hair as well. The CHI is expensive but it is SOOOO worth it!! My cheap iron could get my hair straight, but it always looked "straightened" if you know what I mean. With the CHI, my hair looks and feels like it is naturally straight and it even stays smooth and silky in the FL humidity!

And not all "ceramic" irons are the same. My sister has a cheap ceramic iron. Last time she was up at my house, I straightened half her hair with my CHI - you wouldn't believe the difference in the CHI-straightened half versus her iron-straightened half!!

I have straight hair and got a Chi a about a month ago. Used a coupon and got one with bonus hair products for around $100 at Trade Secret at the mall. I am addicted to the thing. YES, even with straight hair it does amazing things. I can't stand NOT to use it now. I had a cheap Target one, but had heard they can cause damage if you use often so I went for the Chi. WOW, it is so much better. My hair looks good all day now too, even in FL humidity!
So now I am addicted to Bare Minerals and to my Chi... :teeth:

My DD has been using a Revlon ceramic for the past year. It worked just "so-so" and she has fine hair. I finally broke down and bought her a WeeChi (very narrow) and she LOVES it. It was $99 but my cousin who is a licensed beautician picked it up for me. I think it is $120.00 at our shop and it was $140 at Ulta. If you have long and kind of thick hair, it is best to spend the $$$$ and get a professional one.

Wow guys..i just went over to EBAY and entered Chi and got a million different results. Is CHI the brand of it? Sorry having a blonde moment and just not getting it ;) Thanks for your help so far..im so glad i asked instead of just buying any ol' one

You are getting to be high maintenance! :teeth:

:teeth: I've probably always been that way! Just getting more expensive to be that way now! :p

Mine was $109 at Tradesecrets and came with some Chi Silk Infusion and Iron Guard. I'm probably addicted to the Silk Infusion now too! If you buy online, the warranty is NOT valid. It states this in my warranty. The real Chi's are made by Farouk. Mine is a 1".

Love the Chi. I've got very thick, very curly hair, and the Chi iron is the first thing I've ever found that completely straightens it and eliminates all frizz (and I also live in humid Florida). It leaves my hair so silky it's amazing, and I don't use any silkening product with it.

I've also got very thick, very curly hair. I use the Conair with the ceramic plates. I don't see a model number on it but it has the gold handle and cost around $30. It straightens my hair perfectly, as good as when I have it done at the salon. You don't have to pay big bucks for a straightener, just make sure it has an adjustable temp control and use good straightening products. I can now do my hair in just 20 minutes! I wash it at night then straighten the next morning. Of course styling it when it's curly takes me maybe a minute so I don't straighten it very often. How lazy is that?!?

I ordered my CHI off of Ebay. I bought a cheap one at Kmart for my daughter and when I got a new hair cut I decided I needed a good one. Well, it's definitely worth it. I wouldn't even use the other one, but I love this one. It doesn't make your hair look "ironed." It makes it look like it's supposed to look that way. I think with shipping I ended up paying $85 for it. I have to say it's the best $85 I've spent in a long time.

Chi, if money is not an issue. be careful about buying on ebay. voids the warranty.

I tried for years to straighten my hair- chemicals, even a real iron in high school!

My sister is a hairdresser and recommended the CHI. Farouk is the brand name, it's around $100. It works wonders! This is the only iron that has worked for me. http://www.folica.com/Chi_Flat_I_317_1.html I have the 7/10" one, but wish I would've got the 1 inch b/c I have fairly long hair, and it takes forever to straighten!

Whatever you get, use a thermal protector. I got this from the salon:
http://www.matrix.com/products/sleek_look/iron_smoother.aspx It was around $14. You spray it on the sections and comb through just before using the iron.

Good luck!

The SOLIA brand gets better reviews than the CHI brand, anyone know why. :confused3
