Anyone Up For a Little MAYcation?!! A May 2012 WDW PTR with a side of.....

Ooh, ooh, I know what the "side" is!!!! I'm not telling so I don't spoil the surprise.

I sure hope the pool is available for most of your time. This would be a great time of year to enjoy it. When we stayed at BC it was July and the water was just too warm to be refreshing to me.

I can promise you that even if the SAB area is partly closed, and you can only use the Quiet Pool, you will still LOVE LOVE LOVE the BC. Can you tell its one of our favorite places to stay? One great point about the quiet pool--the laundry facility opens out to it,so you can watch them swim while you hop in and out to fold your laundry!!! :rotfl: That's what i do! when I do laundry on our off day, I usually bring a book to the pool and read if they are at SAB, then they migrate down to where I am for a bit and we hang out in that pool. Then we all get dressed and walk over to the WS:cloud9: Some of the best days of my life!!! I just love staying there and walking in thru that back door!!!!
Hey, maybe if it's such an inconvenience, they will upgrade your room!:wizard:

I knew someone would figure it out!!! Sshhhhh!! :)

I hope the pool is all done with it's repairs too. :wizard:

I'm sure we will enjoy the BC anyway, it's just that we don't usually repeat resorts. We like to try new ones. So if the pool & slide isn't going to be open then we would have rather tried something else and saved the BC for another time. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

IDK if I am going to do laundry on this trip or not. I hadn't really thought about it yet. Guess I need to get the suitcases out and see what all we have room for!

All we can do is wait it out at this point. I booked with a 30% discount and there are no regular rooms left on the discount anywhere we would want to stay. I guess if we get there and the pool is still a mess then we will ask to be moved to another resort. It will just be hard if they put us anywhere besides the BWI because a lot of our plans and ADR's revolve around staying in that area.

Did you and your DH love the BWI??? :lovestruc

I did not get very good airfare prices. :sad2: Waited too long (had to). But more on that later....

Shelly we fell in love :lovestruc with the BWI the minute we arrived and can not wait to stay there again. We both decided we liked it better than the YC. I doubt we ever stay any place else now that we were spoiled

That's great Sheila! :goodvibes I'm so glad you guys had such an awesome experience.

Where are we staying and how are we getting there?

Well obviously we are staying that the Beach Club!! For the very first time! :cool1:

Our WDW resort history includes: CBR (3X), POR, POFQ, CSR, OKW, BWI, and the Poly! So yes, we like to get around!! :rotfl:

We started out with the moderates on the first several trips and we loved them. Still do! With our favorites being CBR and POR. We had a very brief stay at OKW and really enjoyed it. When wanting to finally try a deluxe I always thought we would do the Poly or the BC first, but somehow we ended up at the BWI! :upsidedow And we really liked it! Last year we did a split stay with CBR and the Poly CL and it was our best trip ever!! :cloud9: We don't like to repeat a resort 2 trips in a row, so this time we are off to finally try the Beach Club! I would have been fine with trying the YC too, maybe even a little more comfortable considering the fact that we would have a better chance of a full balcony there. But as it turned out when I booked, the YC didn't have any standard or garden rooms left on the 'spring special'. Which is weird since the special was only out a few days when I booked. I have to wonder if they had any of those rooms on the discount....

So that brings me to the 'Spring Room Only' discount. That is what we booked and got 30% off the BC! I was intending on booking a standard room, but for only about $60 more for the entire stay I could get a garden view, so that's what I booked. Hopefully that will be money well spent and we won't have a view of a parking lot or rooftop.

We are booked for 8 nights – Saturday April 28 – Sunday May 6. We have off school that Friday – May 4, so the kids (and I) will only miss 4 days of school. Middle School was a huge adjustment for DS12, but through it all he has done great academically, so hopefully he will do okay with missing 4 days and be able to catch up quickly when we get back. DS10 will have to miss 2 soccer games of his spring season, so that's a bummer. But it's still in-house soccer this year. Next fall he will have to try out for a travel team and it would be a bigger deal for him to miss games.

How are we getting there???

Long story short – we are flying, but at a ridiculously high price! :sad2: I had to keep waiting it out since we didn't know if we were even going to be taking this trip, let alone where we would be living. And I was okay with waiting. Usually our airfare is a decent price shortly after it comes out (and we hadn't even thought about this trip way back then) and then goes up & up & up and then comes back down at about 6 weeks out. Well, that wasn't the case this time. We are about 4 weeks out and it still hasn't come back down.

So Monday after we decided that this trip was definitely back on I knew I had to book something and I had to book it now. Unfortunately ever since SW took over AT we have no more low airfares to begin with, but all along I was hopeful of something decent. We used to pay around $650 RT for all of us. Last year we paid around $850 I think. This year – $1240. :furious: And as if that price isn't bad enough, we got stuck with crappy flight times. All the morning flights on the way down were outrageously high or sold out. So we are flying down in the evening. Probably won't even get to the BC before 9pm. So we are losing our whole first day. That makes me very sad, but what are you gonna do. It is what it is now and I'm just happy to be going. The only thing halfway affordable for the flight home was in the morning, around 10am. So that day is shot as well.

And that's my airfare saga. :faint:

Next Up: What's on the itinerary?

:cool1:
HAPPY
ONE
MONTH!!
:cool1:

I can't believe it's happening so soon!!

You'd better get that luggage out, girl! You're late!!:rotfl:

I am so excited to hear all about the BC and how you like it compared to, well, you know.:rotfl2:

Next trip you have to get back to the MK side of the World. GF in particular.:rolleyes1

I hate that you paid so much for air... but what are ya gonna do? I miss those $36 nonstop flight days out of PGH.:scared1:

For some reason I thought our trips overlapped a little bit more than that. :confused3 We leave on the 29th but REALLY early! Our flight is at 9am so we'll be up & out - no parks on the 29th. So it sounds like we won't have a chance to meet if you aren't getting in until late on the 28th. :sad2:

Crossing my fingers for you that all the pool repairs are finished before you get there!!

Hey it is One Month already!!! party::cool1:

Yes, remember that list of things I told you this morning that I need to get done today -- add getting out the luggage to it! :faint:

I hope we love the BC! :wizard: But things aren't looking too great at the moment - with the late arrival I am worried we won't get a decent room. And then the whole pool thing. I am scared. :scared:

Maybe we'll get back to the MK side of the World next time!! :goodvibes

Oh yes, I remember those days of low airfare out of PGH. What the heck happened? I'd be thrilled to get a $100 non-stop flight now and we can't even get that. Jerks.

That is a real bummer. :sad2: I was hoping we would get to meet up before you left. Stupid late flight. :headache:

Thanks, I hope the pool is all done by the time we get there too. :wizard:

After staying at both the Poly and BC I think the BC is my favorite. It's so awesome being able to walk to Epcot. We eat so much at EP every trip so it's so convenient. I think the pool will be all set for you- I hope I'm right.
I forgot to say yesterday that I know what the "side of" is :woohoo:
Did you just start this PTR yesterday!!??? I can't believe how many pages there are already:scared1:

Deb :)

I forgot to say that you've been really lucky with airfare!
I remember a few years ago paying almost $1800:scared1: during Spring Break. I think it was b/c I didn't book early enough.
This year we paid $1000 and that was awesome for spring break.

The BC definitely has that going for it -- the walk to Epcot! :goodvibes We loved being able to do that at the BWI.

I figured some of you knew that the "side of" is!! :yay:

Yep, just started yesterday!!

We have always been really lucky with flying out of PGH. Lots of low airfares! But I guess not so much anymore.

Congrats of getting yours for $1000!

I'm so excited for you to be trying out the BC!:cool1: We loved it when we were there a few weeks ago. The pool was under construction for us too- but I promise, it's not that bad!
If you have any more questions on the BC, I would be happy to help!

I'm playing the airfare game right now too..... we're at $300 r/t per person.... I think I just need to pull the trigger and book it, because I just don't see it coming down (although I still have 6-1/2 months). I remember when I thought $250 r/t was high! :confused3

Boy you people like to talk!! :lmao: I just found you and you're already on page 4 (and I wouldn't be surprised if this actually makes it to page 5). :confused3

Glad you finally made the PTR- sorry it's been such a stressful time for you. I just went through the whole changing jobs thing, but I cant imagine the added stress of having to move to a different State! YIKES!!:scared1: we're the kids excited or upset about the possible move? My boys would not have liked the idea of moving!

Good giref! That airfare is crazy! My feelings are hurt for you on that one. Have you tried the Southwest DING! download for your computer? They send out daily specials that are way cheaper than even their "wanna getaway fares". I used it for our '09 trip and we flew for about $100 r/t pp. And I bought the tickets about a month before our trip. I have noticed that they have really cut back on the discounts to MCO though so it may not be of any help to you. I'm really sorry you had to pay that much and lose two days. I'm sure you can blame it on gas prices! :headache: It's almost $4 here now. I'm going to have to get a Flintstone mobile if it gets any higher!

Yay for Mickey mail though!

And a BIG yay for the Beach Club! :woohoo: My dream resort! :worship: I would LOVE being able to use SAB and being that close to Epcot! :cloud9:

I'm excited too!! :cool1: I'm sure the pool thing isn't too bad. It's just not ideal for our first time there.

Do you recommend anything CS at the BC?

I hate the airfare game. It used to be exciting to try and find the best deal. Now it's just painful. :sad2: Yeah, you might want to pull the trigger on the $300 r/t. Unfortunately that may be all the better it gets.

Yep, we sure like to chat!! :hyper2: :rotfl:

But hey, you made page 4!! Welcome! :)

It has been a very stressful time. DS10 was excited about possibly moving 500 miles away, and DS12 wanted nothing to do with it. It's been quite a struggle to say the least.
