Anyone there now (California Screamin' Emergency Closure?)

Oh my!

I've seen this happen before. I feel quite safe and secure strapped into my seat, but if I had to get out and walk on that platform.........:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I saw this happen when we were there in 2009. The power somehow got cut off to the entire Paradise Pier area (I think it was a construction mishap) and they had to escort people from California Screamin. We were upset because we were halfway through the TSMM line and they made us all leave. :(

YEAH IT HAPPENS! i have seen them do it many times its no big deal the ride just breaks down!

Don't worry, you can never get stuck in the loop :) That isn't electrical or powered, it's all gravity.

You can also never get stuck on the loop bc if the ride stops, the coasters will stop @ one of the many brakes on the track. I learned this when I got stuck on the hill & had to walk down. :goodvibes

lol i know, i was just saying it to be silly ;)

We were there today and yes, Screamin' was closed for a while with a car stuck up close to the top. We rode it later in the day after they reopened it...no problems. Lines were short all day, only waiting 5 minutes to get on Screamin'!

That's my biggest fear on this ride.....for something to happen & them telling me I have to get out & walk down......they'd have to pry my fingers off the shoulder bar......I would be totally freaking out to the point of passing out......I don't do heights well!! :scared1:

I'm with you! I'd be so freaked out. We had to be escorted off Big Thunder. The first lift hill inside. We were at the very top of the hill and in the last seat of the train. They escorted the front of the train first because we were past some block or something and they were afraid if they did the back first, we'd go forward on the track. They had to come and hook some safety thing to the back of the train first. I was the very last one off of the train. We had to walk down these wet steps on the side of the track and then out of the ride. I'm a wuss and was totally freaked out.

Rides from Peter Pan to Space Mtn. go 101, it happens. Sometimes they have to evacuate, sometimes not.

It is amazing they don't go down more often given the stress and usage they get.

Got stuck on Matterhorn... well kinda... we were all buckled in and in the staging position. Just before you go through the first tunnel to the list. then the system faults. They make everyone evac the ride so they can reset it. Since we weren't on the lift yet they asked if we wanted to wait or evac. We waited, then 20 min later we finished the ride.

BLECH!!! You made my stomache turn into a million knots and then some. LOL! I am queasy with heights, too, but love the ride.

IS it safe for people to get out and walk down the steps?? I don't think I can do that, let alone my 8 year old daughter or 13 year old son, I think we all would be too queasy - are there handrails at least?

UGH!!

Can anyone show a close up pic. of the stairs, what they look like?

Blech... still feel sick, lol.

Thanks everyone. It would TOTALLY ruin the experience for me for sure! I was just curious if anyone knew what "went wrong". Fortunately I've never had to evac a ride anywhere, phew!

I don't like heights either but I'd rather get stuck on this then Mickeys Death Wheel. I rode it once and wondered (ok more like freaked out over) what would happen if the ride broke down and I was stuck at the top?? Seriously, how would they get you down? :scared1:

I was already buckled in the last car or the yellow train when they told us the ride was going to be closed teporarily due to "technical difficulties".:confused:

An hour later, California Screamin' had opened up again and I entered through the FastPass Return and the guy checking tickets was the one who seated me. He remembered me and I was back in for the ride! :cool1:

Good question and I agree!! Wonder what they would do? Also, it gets very chilly on the top sometimes with the wind.
