Thinking about taking the Backstage Magic Tour before the Half. Has anyone done this? I'm wondering if it will be too much before the Half?

Thanks!

I was considering doing the same thing! My fellow travelers won't be arriving until Friday night, so I thought Friday morning might be a good time to do the tour since I have always wanted to. From what I have read it is a lot of walking though. I might do Keys to the Kingdom instead since it begins a little earlier and is shorter. I'm interested to hear if anyone else has done the tour and what they think!

I took the tour but I don't remember it being too tiring. There is some walking involved but not the commando walking like I usually do in the parks. And, if I recall correctly, it was kind of a welcome break from all the hustle/bustle of the parks. However, I didn't do it the day before the 1/2 either. :teeth:

Honestly, I think you could do it. This may not be the best advice, though as I think the experts might frown on this. I think it all depends on yoru comfort level and how ready you are for the 1/2.

I'm thinking it would be ok but you need to keep in mind the need to get good time in to rest before the event.

So if you call it an early night as in after Pop meet go to room and rest try to sleep you would probably be ok. We did this tour as part of an all day experience when they were offering it that way and I think that would be too much.

I think it would be fine. We've done the tour - a long time ago and we did a lot of looking, a bit of walking and some bus travel from park to park.

Early to bed though.

We did a tour last time, I thought it was some type of backstage tour. It was an all-day event though. It was fun, but this one was bit tiring just because it's all day. There was some walking, but they did a lot of transporting you on a bus which definately helped.

The one I'm looking at is the seven hour tour. Yes, we'd go straight to Pop after the tour and then go to bed after the meet.

I've always wanted to do this and since we won't have APs or the kids with us this seems like the prefect time to do it.

Another great tour for train enthusiasts is the Behind the Steam Trains tour. Dan, the trainer for the engineers, does a wonderful job telling the story of Walt's love for trains, and how they obtained all the trains for Disneyland, and WDW.

First thing in the morning, you get to ride the Lilly Bell train which only makes two laps of the park each day. One is for the tour, and one is for the parks opening with all the characters. Then she goes back to bed for the following day. What a life!

Plus you get to go backstage to the train roundhouse, and see where all the maintenance goes on, and the engineers and conductors at work.

At the end of the tour, you get a special tour pin, that is only available if you take the tour. About a 4 1/2 hour tour, from 7 am to almost noon.

Some walking, but more sitting on the trains.
