Anyone taken DME recently and taken their luggage with them?

I know that you have to reclaim your luggage first time around if arriving from UK and I am sure I have read somewhere about people taking it from there to DME so that luggage arrives with them. Anyone done this recently?

Also anyone who has used DTD check-in with Virgin how long do you need to arrive at MCO nowadays before your flight if your luggage has already gone?

I know I will need to pay for DTD check-in as I haven't booked with virgin holidays this time.

DH and myself did this in September we had no problems taking our luggage with us on the DME. We also check in at DTD and always make sure we arrive at MCO at least 2 hours before hand to allow for unforseen circumstances. Last year we had to wait 20 minutes as the road ahead of us was blocked due to a road accident and just as we were leaving the toll road there was a downpour and we had to slow right down due to the conditions of the road and not being able to see anything in front of us. Also you have to allow time to go through security as sometimes there is a huge queue.
