We have a 7-night stay at Vistana next month, followed by 3 nights in a 5-bedroom pool house at Regal Palms Resort. I have not heard anything about Regal Palms (I have stayed at Vistana before), just wondering if anyone has opinions. Thanks.

You'll be staying in Highland's Reserve - that's where the private pool homes are. Regal Pamls is a condo development, right across the street:)

HR is wonderful - our family stayed there last winter for our "Great Big Family Get Together at WDW"...

Publix right there, and a set of lights to get you out on the 27..great spot :thumbsup2

I did not know that Regal Palms was part of Highland Reserves. Good to know.

When we were down to buy a home this is were both me and my husband agreed they were the second best homes we both like. On the golf side of HR. We bought in EI but our second choice was HR. It was location that we went with EI.

I am sure you will love your stay there. I know first hand how nice those homes are. Have a wonderful vacation. Deb

I'm not sure if they are considered/owned together anymore, though, Deb.

I know when RP first opened, and if you were renting a house at HR, you could use the facilities at RP (the pool complex)....it was for exposure, and to get folks to "take the tour":teeth:

Now, though, I *think* that you have to have a home booked through a tour operator/developer in order to stay at one, play at the other. Or that the HR homeowner has to also have a real estate interest in RP, in order for their home renters to use the pool complex.

Maybe someone else will have clarification on this for us:)

Just don't want anyone to assume that if they're staying at HR, they can use the pol at RP:)

...but we loved HR too...EI and HR are a lot alike:)

So really is that Ty Pennington and Kelly Ripa hanging out on this board? I don't know what to think. Of course since I read Kelly's post to my DH and she mentioned her husband Mark my husband said well she does have a husband named Mark, ya dah like anyone can't find that out? :rotfl2: Anyway if it is really you, too cool. :teeth:

I was thinking of booking a pool home there but on their web I read the extra fees they required and changed my mind. There was a fifty dollar charge a week for a television, a fee for the telephone, an arbitrary non-refundable fee of $200, etc. It seemed to bring the daily cost too high to be feasible.

I'd like to hear from someone also who actually rented a house and were those charges actually put on their bill.

 You just never know who is reading the boards these days!

We've stayed at Regal Palms a few times and just love the pool area. My advice to rent a private pool home at Highlands Reserve which is affiliated would be to do it through a private owner on www.vrbo.com or www.cyberrentals.com. That way you know exactly what you are getting. The people in the main office are pretty clueless on a lot of things.

I know when we were there last Feb,there were a lot of complaints from people renting the houses at HR that the pool heat they paid for was never turned on or every got warm. If you rent direct from an owner, you will probably have better customer service.

Happy planning!

could be ;)

Thanks for all of the responses!

I rented the home through the Regal Palms website, it doesn't say anything about not being able to use the resort facilites. This home is considered "on-site" according to the website. I just got an e-mail today thanking me for choosing Regal Palms. I guess I will find out in less than 2 weeks whats what.

There is also no mention of charges for tv's or other amenities other than pool heat (which is not an option for us because there is a 4 night min stay and we will only be there for 3). There is a $100 charge for a security deposit, this is normal though I think when you rent a home.

I am glad to hear it compared to Emerald Island because we have stayed there and loved it!

Thanks again for all the responses!
