Has anyone ever stayed at the Disney Resort in Vero Beach that DOES NOT belong to the vacation club??? DH was thinking that maybe a trip there over the Dec holidays would be nice and relaxing . We love Disney but would like to relax for the holidays. I think we will bring DG (Disney Grandma :) )with us. It would be DH, myself, DG (Disney Grandma), DSIL (disney sister-in-law 30's) and DS (12) and DD (11). The website makes it look like the kids could have fun while we relax. Is it a nice place for the $ Anyone????

I have never been to Vero but you may want to check out the DVC boards. People rave about it. From what I hear you wouldn't want to spend a whole week there but a few days snds really nice. Have you checked to see if they are running any specials on the DVC website? Sometimes they have offers really cheap if you do the 90 min tour and its soooo low pressured! Good Luck and Have Fun

Yes, we stayed there for two nights last June. In fact, if you check the official Disney web-site, it runs specials.

Yes, we have stayed several times at Disney's Vero Beach Resort and we are not DVC members. It's a beautiful property. Many rooms have wonderful ocean views if that's of interest to you. Many scheduled childrens' activities, including swimming lessons, arts and crafts, etc. Miniature golf, Campfires with stories and s'mores, a nice pool area, plus a couple of great restaurants, and a family friendly lounge. We think it's definitely worth the money!:)

Thank you !!DH really wants to give it a try. I will watch the Disney site for Discounts and specials. Thanks again!!

If you check for the web specials, they REQUIRE a tour and the DVC sales pitch, and if you already have attended one they will not let you do it again with the promotional fee. (Unless, you check in under DG name. SHHH, I won't tell)

We stayed there and did enjoy it, but, I think 3-4 nights tops is enough. Even though there are activities, they get old. And they run the same ones after 3 days or so.

I'm not sure whether the tour specials are still being offered. I read one post that said they are approaching sell-out and have discontinued the tours.

You can look for specials, especially with an AP or the Disney Club.

We stayed there for several days two years ago. We found it very relaxing although a few days was enough for my DH. We had a 2 bedroom lock-off that was supposed to be non-smoking, but someone had obviously been smoking in the studio. If we go back, I think we'll do an Inn room (or two) for the ocean view. My kids loved the pool, I loved the kitchen and washer/dryer. We were not members at the time, but just joined last month at BCV.

...AND have stayed at Disney's Vero Beach Resort for the Past 3 years! This year is our fourth consecutive year, and we LOVE it! DVC members receive some perks, but the rooms are only cleaned by housekeeping every three/four days. Ours is cleaned daily. We stayed the first year in an inn room for one eve, and then moved to a 1 BR. Villa for 5 eves. The next year we stayed 7 nights in a 1BR villa, then last summer we stayed 12 nights in a 1BR villa! This summer we are there for 5 nights in a 1BR villa, just prior to our 7-night Western Carribean Cruise (So near to Vero in Port Canaveral). It is great, and they treat everyone as if they WERE a DVC member! The staff and crew are the most friendly and helpful of any resort. We are hooked, and plan to visit every year as part of our vacation. We usually "begin" our vacation here...and it sets the tone and truly helps us "unwind" and relax! Hope you go and enjoy this fabulous resort. :)

P.S. We have "considered" membership for years since taking the first tour in '93. But, we stay 6 weeks on WDW property each summer...making membership (points needed) not a feasible alternative. I have actually "purchased" points needed for our VERO stay on this DIS (DVC Rent) from a DVC member, and saved a fortune! It's great Sun-Thurs (the points are low), and on the weekends...I use the Birnbaum's discount of 25% off! I have the phone number...just buy the Book. The coupon's in the back! Enjoy!!

We're not DVC members...yet! Maybe someday...we stayed
there in January 99, although we left the kids at home (it
was our 25th anniversary). Definitely enjoyed the location,
the accommodations (someday we'll go back and get a
3 bedroom villa...that would be the ultimate!) My husband is
a big fan of Mel Fisher, so we had to check out the shipwreck
museum, which isn't far away, and is a nice little side trip...
educational for the kids, too (we plan to take them there on
our trip this October...although so far we haven't been able
to get room availability at Vero, so we'll stay somewhere
nearby this time). A great relaxing place to stay...especially
check out the sunrise over the ocean, it's one of my favorite
memories of the place!:bounce:

We weren't members when we went to Vero, had no intention of becoming members. We were members when we left Vero. We've been doing the "happy dance" ever since.

The kids especially liked hunting for treasure with the metal detectors. They didn't find anything valuable, but had fun trying.
