Hello everyone. We are going to staying at the California Grand in July and looking for info. Anything helps! :cool1:

It will be me, my husband, and my daughter, 12. We booked a concierge room and not sure what to expect. Close to anything that would be worth while? Thank you everyone!

The public areas are stunningly gorgeous. You can have a drink in the nice little lounge, and also get a quick cup of coffee there in the morning. The pool area is very nicely landscaped, with two pools and a wading pool. The rooms are smallish, but nicely decorated, and there is a nice little balcony that sits two or three. The rooms with theme park views are cool because you can sit and watch the lights of DCA at night. The hotel is really spread out, so when you check in, ask for a room by the lobby elevator--trust me on this. All rooms are supposed to get turn down service at night, which is nice for extra towels.

We stayed there in March. It's so beautiful!

What kind of room did you book? Standard room, DTD view, park view, courtyard view... etc.?

Who will be with you? Kids? how many, what ages?

Are you driving a car there?

You'll love the proximity to the parks. It's especially nice to use the private entrance to Ca. Adventure. Get off GRR soaking wet, the entrance is right there-- run up to your room and change!

I love the Grand California I think also the closeness to both parks is so well worth it. I have had a Downtown Disney view and also standard both are nice. I feel that the room is good size for our family of four. Feel free to ask if you have any specific questions.

We stayed there June 2006 and had a wonderful time. The hotel is beautiful and you can't beat the location. It was so nice to have direct access to DCA and to be able to easily return to the room for a break. We did not eat at Napa Grill but all the other places were good. Napa Grill looked wonderful but it didn't fit into our plans on that trip.
Have a great time! :flower3:

It's a beautiful hotel, we stayed in 2003 and had a DTD view room. With the hotel being so close to everything, it's really hard to beat. We loved being able to go on GRR and jumping back to our room if we got too wet for a quick change. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the woodwork, the lounge area, the pool etc. We've stayed at the other two Disney hotels and are going back this Halloween staying at the GCH.

I will be agreeing with everyone else that posted. It is a beautiful hotel. We stayed there in May last year. It was awesome. I like to go over and take a walk through the lobby even when I am not staying there.

DS and I had a DTD view room a few years ago and at night there would be a musician playing their music and selling their cd's just below our balcony. I would have a glass of wine and stand on the balcony and be serinated. :flower3: It was absolutely magical. In fact, one night I loved the music so much I sent DS down with some $ to buy the cd for me. ;)

The room rates are much more expensive now than they were when we went a few years ago so I don't know if we will be able to do the Grand CA. When we stayed there the rates were what you can now stay at Paradise pier some nights and/or Disneyland Hotel on some.

I have to agree with everyone else that the GC is gorgeous and the best place to stay at DLR. Whitewater Snacks is the CS place there and has very good food for low prices (in Disney terms). I've had both the park view and DTD view which were wonderful. This trip I have the standard view, so we will see what that looks like.
The price is outrageous, but Disney is the only time I splurge, and I can no longer see myself staying anywhere else when I'm there. Never having to see the real world, and being right by the action is worth it all to me.

We stay there everytime because of how well they treated us the very first time. We had just got in with a cranky one year old...which made us cranky. It was around noon, and I knew we wouldn't be able to check in until 3 pm, but just wanted to drop our bags and go the park. To our surprise (as well as the CM checking us in) our Theme park room was all ready!!! Several CM's probably sensed our crankiness and offered to help us find our room, our baggage, etc. on our way to our room.

We were only at DL for 2 nights, but they managed to surprise us in our room for our anniversary as well as my 1 year old's birthday (makes it easy for me to remember dates :lmao: )

Great hotel, great service, worth the price!!

We stayed at the GCH in Nov 07. We had a DTD view room and loved it! Our room had bunk beds for the girls and a queen for us. If we could afford it we would stay at the GCH every trip but since we have AP's and go frequently (at least once a month) we just can't do that, the GCH is a wonderful place to stay, have a great trip!

Wonderful hotel!!! We have been there twice and would stay there in heart beat. DH has decided that is the only place he will stay. :lmao:

Coffee and cookies in the concierge lounge was my favorite part. It was so nice spending time in DCA, jumping over to the hotel for a snack and then heading back into the park. Having the entrance to the hotel near GRR was fantastic.

Other than the price, our trip was perfect. We haven't stayed Concierge. We had a standard room. The staff at the hotel was great and the kids got to see Santa in the lobby. Each night we were there thay had an area in the lobby for either story time or music night. Basically someone hired to do a sing along or nightime story night before bed for the kids. My kids loved that.

If I had the money, I would stay there everytime.

My favorite thing about the GC was that DH and I could take turns running into California Adventure and going on rides through the single rider line while our toddlers napped. The other person just stayed behind and read or watched tv. From our hotel room to getting on Grizzly thru the Single rider line was less than 5 minutes.

My dh and I, along with my youngest daughter and her dh stayed at the GCH in February right after they opened... 2001! Awesome...concierge room...

I was spendy then...have no idea what the cost is or expectations are now...

I just returned last evening from a trip with 10 family members and when I checked on prices for all of us...I knew I couldn't afford it....but if I could....that's where we'd stay!

Awesome...right in the middle of the action!
