I booked a stay at the westin mont tremblant for my boyfriend's birthday but I don't know much about the place. Has anyone stayed there before? Are the rooms nice? How are the restaurants?

He's always so good to me and I want to make this birthday special for him :D

We haven't stayed there but we've walked through the building and the pool area and it is really beautiful. I've only heard good things about it - it's supposed to be one of the nicest places to stay at Tremblant! Enjoy!!! P.S. don't know if you're into Fondue but La Savoie is one of our favourite restaurants - it's a short walk from the Westin.

One other thing - other than La Savoie the other restaurants at the hill don't impress us that much. If I were you I'd go onto the main street in St. Jovite - there are a number of great little bistros. If you'd like some other opinions, go to www.fodors.com to the "talk" section, go to the Canada forums, type in Tremblant for your search and you'll see lots of opinions on restaurants, hotels etc....

Thanks lmk, that was just the reassurance I needed :D

Going in to St. Jovite for dinner is an excellent idea. I remember a lot of the restaurants in Tremblant village were overpriced and the service wasn't so great. I hope we can try La Savoie too because I've heard lots of great things about it. Thanks for all your great suggestions! :D

No problem! Something else I just thought of that you may want to try is Spa Scandinave - before we had our little one my husband and I loved going there. Very relaxing - they have a number of hot tubs, saunas etc. And you can have a massage as well. The prices are quite reasonable. We'll actually be at Tremblant on the 26th -decided just to go for the day for our anniversary as we've spent the last 2 anniversaries at Tremblant. This time we did our anniversary weekend in Montreal which is where you are from I see! Had a great time!

Thanks!!! lmk you're the tremblant expert! :worship:

I wish I had known about the Spa Scandinave before I booked a very non-reasonably priced massage at the Amerispa. That's definately something I would want to try for next time :goodvibes

I hope you have a great anniversary :D

Hey there - I'm just wondering if you've gone to Tremblant yet? We went yesterday for the day and had a great time and, as usual, a great dinner at La Savoie. Could I possibly ask you to return the favour and advise me on a Montreal restaurant?? We're going for the day to meet a friend. We'd like somewhere that has great food but not "snotty" service and would accomodate our 13 month old. Any suggestions?? Downtown or Old Montreal would be fine. Looking forward to your reply!

I went to Tremblant last weekend and the Westin was amazing :earseek: . The service was great, the location was great, the room was great - then there was the heavenly bed and bath!

Finding a good, kid-friendly restaurant in downtown Montreal is a bit of a challenge. Gibby's in old montreal use has many families celebrating special occasions so they should be used to babies. It's expensive but the food is excellent! The service is proffesional but it doesn't feel stuffy at all. If you like steak, fish, or seafood I would highly recomend Gibby's.

Katsura is a Japanese restaurant with great food and non-stuffy service. I've seen a few babies there over the years and if you go early (like at 6:00) the place is usually empty. It's a bit expensive but you get a lot of food. Don't bother with the sushi though, there are much better sushi places in the city.

Now I'm letting you in on a little hidden treasure that even most Montrealers don't know about. It's called Pizzaria Napoletana (on Dante street off of St. Laurent blvd) and it has the best Italian food in the city!!! It's definately not the nicest restaurant in the city but people line up outside to get in. I haven't tasted pizza that good since I was in Italy and the pasta was mouth-watering. There were a lot of families when I was there. If you're looking for amazing food and don't care about the look of the restaurant, I would go with this place.

I'll call my friends with babies and try to find some more options for you. I'm glad you had a great time in Tremblant :D

Awesome! Thanks. We're actually going to be going for lunch rather than dinner - should have clarified that. Thanks for your help!

This is funny how it's become a 2 person thread - I just happened to come across your post regarding Air Canada - that sucks! I hope you were able to reschedule.

Katsura has an amazing lunch special!

You were so helpful with all your tremblant recomendations so I'm glad I could help.

Hi There,

Hope you don't mind my joining in.

If the weather is nice..then you can walk around Old Montreal and look around to see which restaurant seems intriguing for you...that's what we used to love doing when we lived in Montreal.

Also, you can visit Prince Arthur..or St. Denis ..they have great little restaurants as well. (Bring your own wine).

The tastes, the sounds as well as the warmth of Montreal is wonderful. You will see many families dining with young children.

Here is a nice link that rates a whole bunch of restaurants..

Hope you have a wonderful time...

Vivian

I am trying to get you a restaurant's name that we frequented many times..perhaps someone else may remember the name and location..it was I believe called Restaurant Le Gargantua Papat??? Sorry I will find out...it was very cute and tasty..very popular...

Thanks Vivian - no problem with you joining in. I appreciate the suggestions. Keep 'em coming!!

Hey Princess Pooh
I realized in my haste to plan my Montreal day I forgot to ask whether you ate at La Savoie. Or did you go into St. Jovite to eat. Fill me in on the details if you have a minute!! Lesia

I can't believe I forgot about Galiano's in Old Montreal. My friend ate there in the terasse this weekend and highly recomended it.

I booked a package with the Westin and when we checked in they told us that breakfast and dinner was included :hyper: . Dinner was at the U restaurant and it was amazing!!!! We had sushi and a rasberry sake/champagne cocktail :p . There were a lot of babies there, in case you want to try something new.

We checked out the menu at La Savoie and I'd like to try it next time (along with the spa scandinave). I'm hoping to go back in October :D

Did you decide on a lunch place yet?

Hi there - we haven't decided yet but we're going to take a list of your suggestions and see what we feel like. Thanks again for the advise!! Hope you were able to sort out your disney trip.
