Anyone stay at the El Tovar in the Grand Canyon? Also, any "Ghost Towns" near there?

I am trying to put together this trip for my parents and I was wondering what the El Tovar was like. They also wanted to do a "Ghost Town" tour, but I was wondering how far one was from the El Tovar? They will have a rental car.

Have you checked this website to see if it's helpful? Ghost Towns They have a pretty good database of sites and a forum along with other things. Warning, it does play a rather annoying song whenever you go into a page.

Here's another webpage with a webring of ghosttown websites. Ghost Town Webring

I hope that you can find the area you need!

We stayed at the El Tovar about 3 years ago. It was very nice. There were 5 of us so we had to get 2 rooms, because they only sleep 4, but our room was so big you could easily have put a roll-away cot in there. We wanted the 2 rooms for the extra bathroom. The room was old but very nice. It had a TV but no cable or anything so you really couldn't watch very much but we didn't have the time anyway. The hotel has really big porches with rocking chairs and all kinds of places to sit and deer will come right up to the hotel!! And the Grand Canyon was just beautiful!! We were there in the summer and the temperature was very pleasant. We also went to Phoenix and that was HOT, Hot, Hot!! We didn't do any ghost tours but went to Sedona and did a jeep tour of the desert, that was fun and the kids loved it. Hope this helps! :)
