There seems to be so much to do at FW alone. I was just curious if any you DIS'ers have camped at FW and NOT gone to any of the parks??? Maybe it sounds crazy, but we were actually thinking of doing that sometime this summer!!

We are only spending one say at the park and the other time at the campground. Last time we went we did 4 parks in 4 days and it was just too much. We would like to relax and take advantage of everything FW offers this time.
We have done this, and loved it. If you get restless and need to go somewhere, take a bus or a boat and just explore. There are all the other resorts, DTD, and more.
We did it last month after picking up our new (to us) motorhome in Tampa. It spent its first with us at FW on the way home to NJ. One night was too short though.
We spent three weeks over the Christmas holiday and never went in the parks one time. Plenty to do without all the extra crowd hassle and you can't beat FW!

Hi, we live in Cumming too. We just got back from over a week at FW. We only went to the parks two days...which is what we did last year too. There is plenty to do at FW if you like to swim, ride bikes (or a golf cart), fish, go the the nightly movie, etc. You can also take the Ferry to the monorail and explore the other Magic Kingdom resorts. They also have afternoon activity everyday for kids.
We were there at Xmas for 2 weeks and never went to one park, we have a 12 yo and a 14 yo and they took the boat to the MK but we stayed and enjoyed FW
We are going next week to spend 2 nights at POP and 2 nights at FW, only going to MK one day. The other days we will explore other resorts and spend lots of time at FW!
Hey Us3, we live just down the road in Fayetteville...on the other side of the tracks, so to say.
We bought our travel trailer in May and through much persistence and daily calls to the CRO were able to get ressies for July 4th weekend last year and we didn't go into the parks at all. We wanted to use the five day weekend to get familiar with the campground because we knew there would be plenty of future trips.
We stayed at FW for MNSSHP in October and went to MNSSHP on the day we arrived. We went to the MK the next morning/afternoon and returned to the campsite to walk the dog and to go on the Haunted Hayride Saturday night, and we went to AK on Sunday so we would have Sunday night to go to the campfire sing a long and movie. That makes for a busy three days so I don't mind not going to the parks at all on some days.
Our next trip to FW is in three weeks for President's Weekend and we have kind of limited the amount of time in the parks for the same reason.

It doesn't sound crazy at all! I say that because we've done it 3 times! Last January we went coo coo for cocoa puffs and took off for FW with no camping gear and stayed in our van. I have to admit that it was kind of fun, we just packed clothes and blankets, took out the extra seat of the van for more space, and we were off! (Let me think for a minute why I take camping gear again? It's a conversion van with a backseat that opens to a bed). There's plenty to do in and around Walt Disney World!!
I'm editing this to add that we had the biggest campsite ever!! It was in the 1500 loop on the bend as you leave the hairpin and head back out of the loop, I believe 1518. It stretched way back lengthwise into the trees behind and there we were without our tent! Typical!!
