I'm just looking for some real life reviews on the new All Stars Family Suites. Anyone?

Tapping foot loudly on floor I'm waiting .... anyone been yet???

I'm posting this from the AS Music Family Suite. It's a nice layout. It's been quite a while since I stayed at the value resorts (like ~1995-96) but I might have to stay here more now. Nice space for the money. The only downside to our stay, is we requested a first floor room and got stuck up on the 3rd. The CM that checked us in said it would be 1st floor (have a 3 month old baby, first floor would of be nice). But since the room wasn't ready she couldn't give us the room #. When it was ready at ~3:30pm and I found out it was on the 3rd the other rooms were full. The CM I talked to claims the CM that checked me in noted it in the computer but forgot to actually switch us. Or something like that. All they did was say "sorry".

Looks like the calypso wing is currently being redone right now, one of the buildings are completely shut down and being worked on. Converting some of the rooms to Suites.

Thank you very much! :cool1: :thumbsup2

Thanks for the post! It's the first I've seen! How are the pull out sofa and chair beds? Just curious as we will be there in April! Also exactly where in Jazz are these located? Thanks again! Nice to hear it was basically a good experience!

The pull out beds seem nice, our 11 year old son is sleeping on one right now. I looked around a bit today, the FS rooms seem to be all over the building. I've seen them on the 1st and 3rd floor (haven't looked at the 2nd floor). They put in quite a few of them it looks like.

Thanks I really appreciate the info! I can't wait until April!!! Thanks again for the POST!!!

Yes. 2 bathrooms and a kittenette(not a full kitchen)

Here are some reasons I think the New Family Suites at All Star Music are a good choice:

*** They are 520 square feet.

*** The Family suites are located in the Jazz and Calypso buildings at All Star Music.(these are the closet buildings to the food court and the bus stop.

*** They cost less than a standard room at AKL or WL.

*** They have a QUEEN size bed (the other values and even the mods do not have a queen bed.

***the fridge is included (if you booked 2 connecting value rooms you would need to pay $10 extra for a night for a fridge if you wanted one.

*** They come with a microwave and coffeepot (If you booked 2 connecting value rooms you would not even be be able to rent a microwave and coffeepot.

***They have 2 TV's (if you book POR or a Deluxe room which sleeps 5 you will have 1 TV)

THey have 2 bathrooms (if you book POR or a Deluxe room which sleeps 5 you will have 1 Bathroom.

Thanks so much for your review and comments.
You were the first to us a review.
I asked a couple of questions on the FAQ thread. I will post them here also.

Thanks for taking time to give us your thoughts and to answer a few questions.

I have a question myself.
You said your son was sleeping on one of the pull outs.

When Mousekeeping makes up his "bed" do they leave it in the fold down position or do they fold it up again?
Just curious.
Also.......How easy is it to fold down and to fold up?
Thanks so much and have a wonderful time at Disney and at All Star Music!

Thank you so much for taking the time to fill us in on the Family Suites. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. It is helping me in deciding where to stay in Feb.

I have a couple more questions for you.

You said that you have a 3 month old baby. My littlest will be 16 months when we go so I'm wondering about sleeping arrangements for little guys. Is there room for a Pack and Play in the room or should I just plan on sharing the queen bed?

Also, I've heard that there is barely room to pull in a stroller in a standard room. How are the Family Suites in this regard?

Since we will be needing to return to take naps in the afternoon, how was the noise level?

Are all the Family Suites together or are they interspersed among the standard rooms?

From Linda's photos, (thanks, Linda!) it looks a little crowded with the sofa and chairs pulled out. Is there still room to walk around or should we really not plan to leave the beds out every day?

Did you use the kitchenette to feed your family and was there room for the kids to actually sit around a table to eat (even if it was just Pop-Tarts)?

How many suitcases did you bring and was there room for all of them? I'm sorry if that sounds personal, but I'm trying to figure out what we can pack. Little kids seem to take a lot of equipment!

You are there at a pretty busy time. How is the pool? Is it crowded or can the little ones enjoy it, too?

Sorry for all the questions. You can't believe how nice it is to hear from someone who has done this!!

Thank you very much!! :thanks:

We brought our own disney pack and play. It was a very tight fit in the master bedroom. We ended up putting it right against the door, leaving the door open. This left enough room to walk by. Actually the pack and play could of easily fit on the other side of the bed near the desk/window. But the A/C vent is over there also. We wanted to keep the baby away from right under the air vent. So, yeah there should be plenty of room for one, if you don't mind the baby sleeping close to the a/c.

Also, I've heard that there is barely room to pull in a stroller in a standard room. How are the Family Suites in this regard?

I stayed in a standard Music room when my 11 year old was only 6 months old and we had no problem with the crib etc. With the Family Suite there was way more then enough room for the stroller/crib/all the baby stuff.

Since we will be needing to return to take naps in the afternoon, how was the noise level?

Noise level was not bad at all, I didn't even notice anyone outside the room at all.

Are all the Family Suites together or are they interspersed among the standard rooms?

They are mixed in with the standard rooms. Looked like they took say 6 of the middle of each floor and made 3 suites each. So you would pass 1 or 2 standard rooms, then 2-3 suites, and then 1-2 more standard rooms on one section of the wing.

From Linda's photos, (thanks, Linda!) it looks a little crowded with the sofa and chairs pulled out. Is there still room to walk around or should we really not plan to leave the beds out every day?

We only opened the 1 main pull out sofa. There was plenty of room to walk between it and the TV. I don't think I would leave them open all day tho. They are very easy to fold up and the sheets stay in place when you do.

Did you use the kitchenette to feed your family and was there room for the kids to actually sit around a table to eat (even if it was just Pop-Tarts)?

All we really used the kichenette for was the baby food. There is a small round table by the living room window tho that would be were the kids could sit to eat. No chairs or really anywhere to sit in the kichenette area. The sink is also on the small side, and splashes water out a lot. So just watch out for that.

How many suitcases did you bring and was there room for all of them? I'm sorry if that sounds personal, but I'm trying to figure out what we can pack. Little kids seem to take a lot of equipment!

3 big suitcases, 1 small, 2 diaper bags, pack and play, portable swing, stroller, etc. Had plenty of room left to put things. Since its 2 standard rooms combined to 1 suite, you get 2 closet spaces beside the bathroom sinks.

You are there at a pretty busy time. How is the pool? Is it crowded or can the little ones enjoy it, too?

Sorry for all the questions. You can't believe how nice it is to hear from someone who has done this!!

Thank you very much!! :thanks:

The pool actually wasn't too bad. Our son didn't actually go swim in it till around 11pm (due to doing other things :) ). And had a blast playing with the other kids. The guiater pool has a small area just for little kids and is perfect for little ones to play and splash.

No problem with the amount of questions. Thats what this place is for :) Just hope my answers are clear enough to help you. :teeth:

You said the pullouts were "Queen bed, full-size pullout sofa, convertible ottoman & chair sleepers (4 separate sleepers)".

Do you mean there are actually 4 pullout beds or do you mean the pullout bedding sleeps 4 ? I ask because I may consider for a "sports" trip with 4 teens and if they each had their own bed, we would all be happier ;)

Would give us boys and girls bathrooms and a way to make some breakfast/lunches and save money........and be on property.

I am sorry I did not make the sleeping surfaces more clear.

The Queen size bed which sleeps 2 is in the bedroom area. It is a regular bed and not a fold out.

In the living area there are 3 foldouts. There is a full size sofa which sleeps 2 and there is an ottoman & a chair foldout which each sleep 1.

So if you need (4 separate sleepers) in the living room I guess the suites will not be your best choice.

If you just need a total of 4 sleeping surfaces in the whole suite than the suite should work well.

Here is a photo of the living room with the fold downs in the sleeper position.

Here is a photo of the QUEEN size bed:

Here is the layout of the suite:
Remember the chair & ottoman may also be folded down.
The layout does not portray that.

Hope that helps andthat you have lots of fun on your "sports" trip.

I could make it work with two kids on the sofabed I guess....something to think about.

We had actually booked a suite for March 17-24 and then switched to POFQ to save $650....I have a 4.5 & 2.5 do you think the suite would be a better option. I want the amentities the moderates offer but if I am not sleeping well????? Thanks!
