If we ship a box to Boardwalk Villas, will they bring it to our room after we check in? Or do we have to go somewhere to retrieve it and carry it back to the room ourselves?

If we have to go get it, how long is the walk?

I'm concerned because the box is kind of heavy.

(I know that they probably will charge a fee because there is a convention center at that hotel, and it has an outside vendor which processes the packages. And I know that we should use FedEx or UPS rather than the Post Office so that the box will be delivered directly to the hotel rather than going to the WDW central mail delivery location, which would cause a delay.)

You will be notified, "hopefully" that you have a package waiting. You can call and have Bell Services deliver it to your room.

Have you heard about Owners Locker? Look for a banner here on the DIS and check them out.

Have you heard about Owners Locker?

I've heard great things about them. Definitely joining. Hopefully this will be the last time I have to ship down a box and drag a heavy carry-on bag through airport.

Thanks for the information.

We just did this over Christmas. It took some doing, but finally got our package. May have been that it was December 22 when we arrived and the holidays through things off, but I got the impression from the CM that things aren't as easy since that area as been outsourced. Be sure to go to the concierges desk as they the authority to retrieve the packages, apparently bell services does not.

I placed an order from Hanna Andersson in December 2008, to deliver to the BWV ( the day before we went, I was packing and realized my kids both needed a little sweatjacket, sweatpants, and my DD needed shorts and a couple of tee shirts, so I ordered with next day shipping). It arrived the afternoon we got there, after we had gotten checked in but we were at Epcot. I had put the correct address as well as my name and reservation number on the order, and BWV had actually delivered it straight to my room without me even being there or calling. That was the first time I've done that. Glad I did - we needed the clothes!

I've also shipped boxes down to the AKL, and the Swan and Dolphin.

None charged a fee. The other times, I had let them know there was a box waiting for me when I checked in, and then I called bell services to bring it to me. I did tip the guy a couple of dollars for bringing the box.

Can someone please post the mailing address for BWV? Also, how far in advance should I ship something and is there a fee to pick it up in the resort?

Thanks!!!
Carmel

I ended up shipping 2 boxes.

Box # 1 was 14” x 10” x 10” high and weighed 9 pounds.

Box # 2 was 20” x 20” x 12” high and weighed 14 pounds.

I had to go to the convention center to pick them up. I went to Bell Services first, and the Bell Services guy got a cart and walked over with me. The lady at the convention center told me they were "medium" boxes. The fee was $5 each. I think she determined the fee based on weight, not size, but I'm not sure. She charged the fee to my room.

I used FedEx Express Saver, which is 3 business days, Saturday delivery not available. With FedEx, you choose Priority Overnight, Standard Overnight, First Overnight, 2 Day or the Express Saver. Thus, you know how far in advance to ship. I believe UPS is the same.

If you are going to use the Post Office, you need to leave extra time because your package will go to a central mail sorting facility at Disney before it goes to the hotel.

The address I used was:

Disney's Boardwalk Villas
2101 Epcot Resorts Blvd
Hold for Guest [my name]
Lake Buena Vista FL 32830

Some people have posted longer addresses, but they wouldn't fit on the FedEx label.

I wrote my last name on each side of the boxes. I thought that the convention center people might stack something on top of my boxes, and thus the labels would not be visible when they were looking for my boxes.

It worked out fine for me, but I definitely can't fit one more thing into my Owner's Locker.

We shipped a box in February. Bell services brought it to my room. They guy told me it was $5 for delivery, plus another $5 because of the weight. It was only 3 lbs! I complained to front desk and had the fee removed. There doesn't seem to be any consistency at all.

Are you sure that it was Bell Services? Package handling at BLT, BCV, and BWV is handled by IKON Business Solutions, a outside contractor. Just like Valet Services, Disney has decided to make their Guests deal with a company who offers less service for more money. :sad2:

I've done this for BWV many times pre- and post- outsourcing. when we ship a large box we place the reservation number and date of arrival on the outside. the box typically weighed 50+ pounds. in every case we got a voicemail saying something about they noticed we had checked in and are we ready to receive the box. there isn't any involvement with bell services on incoming packages. i think the boxes were delivered without us in the room at VWL and OKW. we were definitely in the room for each trip at BWV but we were having food delivered by Marge of wegoshop.

we ship via UPS both ways and insert the return paperwork inside the box. Zero as in no problems whatsoever in more than 10+ shipments.

i've not heard of nor experienced the multiple charges.

on a couple of occasions DW would mention we are expecting a large package during check-in (both normal and quick check in). This may be an alert to the business center but this is a guess on my part

we have paid for the weight of the large box ($15 or 20 i just don't remember) but bell services takes the box to the business center for the return trip for just the tip.

we take SW and have done the shipping because we haven't been able to use RAC until our forthcoming fall trip. the shipping is convenient. one time i chose to replace the original box and the business center took care of it for me for a few dollars. they seemed comfortable in working with the contractor.

Hope this helps
