I was surfin the DIS today and there is a lot of activity on the Budget Board about US Disers taking their gold or silver jewelry to sell to finance their trips :surfweb:

Has anyone done this here in Canada?

I have some jewelry that I never wear and I don't have a clue where to start :confused3

It seems that in the states there are a couple of companies where people can mail their items via Fed-Ex and the amounts they are getting for gold are incredible :woohoo:

If anyone has any tips..... I'm all ears.... ;)
(No I'm not Dumbo :lmao: )

I saw a commercial not too long ago with that crazy jeweler guy, Oliver something or other, where he buys your gold. I've never done it myself. Don't think DH would be too happy if I hawked my gold, and I'm sure he'd never buy anymore jewelery for as long as I lived:sad2:

I know the guy on TV that you mean. His commercials are always so cheesy:rotfl:

I don't wear much jewelry, usually just earings and occasionaly a necklace.

I have stuff that has been given to me over the years that just sits in a box and I know I will probably never wear it, so it wouldn't be missed.

I wouldn't dream of selling something that has sentimental value

That sounds a little risky. I would stick with the bricks and mortar establishments.

TC.

I also thought at first it might be risky, but after reading allmost 70 pages of threads, it seems they are legit companies who pay to insure the jewelery being mailed and they are paying big $ for old gold.

Lots of posters are reporting getting anywhere from $200 - $1500!!! :yay:

I guess Gold value is "UP" right now :confused3

I would think you'd have to have a LOT of gold by weight tho???
I just had all my gold re-appraised for Insurance purposes...$980 an ounce the day it was done! Some pieces more than doubled since the last time! Items with Diamonds took a dip though:rolleyes:

Oh well--can't have it all ways right?!?!
