Anyone see this about the terrorists?

Yes.

Personally...I wonder if Disney was not double checking all the buses when they came across that "package" attached to the bus.

You know the govt must keep someone in Disney in the know about any terror threats.

Disney actually has an intelligence/security group which deals with this type of thing. I saw an opening a few years back and would have applied but it was at the corporate offices in Burbank, not Orlando. Wish I had copied and kept the vacancy.

A lot of large international companies will have positions like this where individuals have clearances and liason with the government on possible threats to their interests, employees and guests.

Al Qaida creates more scare with potential bombings than they do with actually carrying them out. Hats off to the intelligence agencies and law enforcement that are doing such a great job. But, if we stop living our day to day lives just because Al Qaida has stepped up their potential, then they have won. I believe that this scare is not a coincidence that it comes to light around the same time as the Fed Bank Chairman says that we are officially out of the recession. Al Qaida will do anything to try to keep us scared and intimidated, the way they run the countries that they are in. Enjoy life, enjoy Disney, and be confident that in the grand scheme of things, we are all safe.

what next at the gates?,,,,metal detectors?

They've had them at Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh for 10 years. It has never ruined my experience at Kennywood, and it certainly wouldn't bother me to walk through a metal detector at Disney World, either. My family's safety is much more important to me than a brief inconvenience like walking through a metal detector.

I think it would be hard to target anything as large scale as 9/11 at Disney. So, I am pretty sure that the backpacks are nothing. I keep hearing backpacks, and that wouldn't cover enough ground for them. My opinion is that if the ever try something here again, it will be as big or bigger than 9/11. I think these guys have alot of so called "pride" and don't want to hear "this was so small scale compared to 9/11".
That being said...I welcome any extra security at Disney....just in case!

Not at all. Kennywood is a very old "trolley" park outside of Pittsburgh. They have some very old rollercoasters and a truly beautiful layout (lots of very old trees, green areas, and shaded walkways between rides).

oh ok,,,thought it had something to do with Kenny Rogers (like Dollywood/Dolly Parton)

Since this is not really Disney related, and more of a general report, I'm going to move it over to the community board now.

with all due respect,,,how is this not disney related? does disney not have hotels or transportation?

Average age of Disney security: 78

That is the disney security that you are see. The group I was talking about that would deal with something like this works out of the corporate office.

You are right that they want to do something bigger, likely that would involve a WMD and it wouldn't take much in a backpack to do a significant amount of damage, even if they don't hurt a lot of people one of the main goals of terrorism is the psychological effect, i.e. to terrorize.

Also they are getting a lot of criticism because they haven't been able to conduct an attack on US soil in 8 years, they might try to conduct any type of operation, large or small, simply for propaganda purposes.

The thought that something could happen at Disney has crossed my mind just about every trip. However, that's it, crossed my mind then out of mind and I didn't worry about it. However, it's weighing much heavier on my mind this time and I hope I can get it out of my mind before we go in Dec. DH says that if I don't stop thinking about it, it will totally take all the joy out of this trip.

I worry too much and I know it. Sure wish I could do something about it but I do come from a line of worry warts and it's in my blood.
