First let me say that I have NEVER run a race in my life and never thought I would. I have recently started running, though, and I like it. A friend and I though about running it next year. I would like to hear all about it from someone who experienced it. Thanks.

I walked the 5K this year. It was fun. AK was a little tight for that many people, but it was neat. I esp. liked seeing the backstage areas. I got an awesome picture of the backside of Everest. I would of liked it to be a timed event, but it was okay because I was walking with friends slower than I usually would.

DH did the 5K this year. He included the details in his trip report if you are interested. Look for Lynnda and Bill's Marathon Report (or something like that). The 5K description is first. Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

I signed up with two friends (we are the Sweaty Yetis), and we can't wait until September! I hope the course takes us to some of the backstage areas some of you mentioned.

We did the 5K last year and although tight in a couple spots it was a lot of fun. In fact, we're doing it again in 09.

I did it in Jan. with my 9 yo daughter. We ran on and off, mostly off  , and had a great time! You will LOVE it! Where else can you walk/run from Africa to Asia in less than an hour? ;) :rotfl2:

I'll be doing it, though I am being bad in handing over the moo-la LOL Active is saying hand it over and I'm like NO I want flowers on the patio :rotfl2:

But I will be joining the group again. It IS a tight fit in the park because of the width of those paths.

HEY Sweaty Yetis!!!! Team Hakuna Matata (think that was what Mom picked for me & DH LOL) The 5K portion will be the same as the Jan 5K and take us backstage a bit. We'll head back stage a little after we turn right off the bridge that goes to Africa. It's an out and back section back there and in January I thought it was the greatest as I was able to shout out to team mates though it's TIGHT back there still. In some spots I recall being able to pass on the grass but all please be careful when passing on the grassy areas no matter which race or where on property. Don't want anyone slipping.

Liz are you the Liz with the friend Susan who lead us in stretching? I saw the non-Susan Liz at the 15K and I'm properly going to continue confusingyou 2 online :lmao: for those that have not met either Liz they are both wonderfully friendly ladies

Allie!!! When I saw you post immediately comes to mind is a photo of you 2 that I think John & Karen took in the5K.

6 months to train for the 5K, keep it up and in January you'll just worrying about what to wear for the rest of day that goes best with you medal :thumbsup2 Oh and bring your smiles, there be photographers lurking in the foliage LOL
