We are renting a house in Briargrove 3/02 and was wondering if anyone had any experience with homes in this area. How close to WDW? The homes look beautiful in this community, just wondering if the pictures did them justice. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

Tough to say...Davenport is a fairly large town...parts of it are VERY close to Disney, and parts are quite far away...

At best, Davenport is about a twenty minute ride to Disney, much of it along US 192, which is undergoing a major construction project, and is also home to many traffic jams.....

If you have kids, especially younger ones, you may want to give some serious consideration to passing on this one...Consider that you may want to get the kids out of the parks for a few hours one or two days...Now, imagine the minimum twenty minute drive, throw in possible crying and tantrums, and the potential for heavy traffic to add to the stress...

Vacation homes in Kissimmee are generally much better located near Disney Property...Davenport is a lovely community, but a bit far afield if you have young children.

Much of this can be disregarded if you have older kids, or no kids...The traffic problem on US 192 remains, but at least you don't have to deal with an exhausted five year old at the same time, and the extra distance from Disney does make it seem a little more private, and a little more relaxed when you get back.

By the way, it may also surprise you to know that I know EXACTLY where Montague is...Used to drive through it all the time when I was in college...Liked it too, until I broke down there one night, when it was thirty degrees below zero...

Eeyorestail,

You are right, I can't believe you know where Montague is! If you blink, you miss it! It is a very nice, small town. I totally relate to breaking down in the winter, we had sooo much snow here this winter, it was unbelievable!

Thanks for the info on Davenport. We are traveling with two small children and four adults. This is our first trip to Disney, so we are planning to only do one or two parks. We are hoping to go every 1-2 years, so we aren't going to kill ourselves trying to see everything because the kids are still very young. This is going to be a very laid back vacation, so I think we will like the fact that we can "get away" from all the Disney action. I have heard about the construction, hopefully it won't be too bad for us. We got a really great deal on a house, and since it has both a swimming pool and jacuzzi, I know we will spend alot of time just hanging around (weather permitting).

By the way, where did you go to college?
