Anyone rent a car on Disney Property?

Do you know if Budget at doubletree has shuttles to/from your hotel?

Last time I rented from there they had no shuttle for rental cat pick up/drop off.

I am assuming if we get better rates at airport I can still let ME deliver our luggage to resort since I just got tags in mail (will make it easier at airport) and then we can do airport check in at BW when we leave so again it's just us and car when we return at airport and don't have to deal with luggage.

Officially DME is not a luggage transport service. (this refers to from the airport to the hotel...RAC on the way back to the airport is a totally different story and it's not a problem to use their services but still drive yourselves)

But there is a whole big long "sticky" thread on the Transportation forum, and I suggest reading from most recent on back, that discusses how it's totally possible and apart from some hypotheticals no one has ever actually encountered a terrible situation tagging the bags for DME while not getting on the bus.

Whether or not rentals will be cheaper at the airport vs offsite isn't something you can always rely on having the same answer. Check for EVERY rental. It can vary!

FYI..I just rented my car from Alamo picking up from and returning to Dolphin AND, if anyone is interested, I got the best rate through Undercover Tourist..it was even cheaper then Costco by about $15! It worked out great in that I purchased my Universal (2 day plus 3rd day free park to park) tickets and rented my car all on one site and I saved $ on both the tickets and rental. I really like Undercover Tourist...have used them many times for tickets and have always had great experiences.

We are renting this october fron Huilton Bonnet Creek as well. You said you took a taxi, on their webite they say they provide transport to/from hotel, is this true?

They probably do, I didn't even think to check! lol... I did my rental booking through my airmiles carrier, I never visited Hertz' website. Airmiles didn't let me know of a shuttle, so I just cabbed it

Hello!

I'll probably be repeating what others have already noted but I found renting from Alamo/Car Care Center a breeze two years ago. I arrived onsite (stayed at the POR) called for the shuttle at the front desk and it arrived promptly to take me to the center to pick up my vehicle. As I had fractured my ankle two weeks before my trip and was scooting around on an ECV they even (to my surprise) upgraded me to a larger vehicle gratis to make loading and unloading the ECV easier! Great Service and convenient location!

We rented from Car Care Center and it was a breeze. Their shuttle picked up DH in order to pick up the car and brought him back to our resort after drop-off...easy peasy.
